Yeah, desktop UI is arcane by today’s standards.

I totally want to play this.

Try Home Assistant, it’s really fun.

and do know I’ll bring RomM integration up with both teams again for you :P
Thank you so friggin’ much !!! The day it finally is released I’ll build all of you a freaking monument !

As always, wonderful write-up. Thank you and Gardiner!
So, yeah pretty much like distros: point release vs rolling release. Personally RetroDeck vibes with me a lot more than EmuDeck, everything they do emanates this “light side of the force” vibe.
And I’ll close with my classic: I’m patiently waiting for the day the fabled RetroDeck RomM integration is released to us mortals.

Sounds great, I’m sure nothing could go wrong!

Steam is the largest game store ever. Why would they want to skip it?

If Luanti were to receive the attention needed to upgrade to make use of modern pipelines and the GPU, I’m sure the Deck would benefit and perform better.
As Luanti isn’t available on Steam yet…
There you go. Just publish it, and add a donation DLC that gives the user a badge, a mention in the credits or something like that.
Better buy a lapdock. Every time you upgrade your phone, you get a new laptop for “free” and it will have the same features as the Googlebook.

Wait, what?
How can he be such a dick? I’ll take the link down.

Yeah, I’m not worried about the actual work. I’m worried about company culture. Example: If the new owner of the 51% decides to go public, we are all royally fucked.

I tried the demo when it came out. Great game, but I got turned off by the level design. There were lot of times when I got lost and didn’t know what to do or where to go. And not in a good way, like on Journey, Abzû or Sword of the Sea, you can get lost and get rewarded for exploring but getting back on track is intuitive.
Haste has better physics though.

I don’t like them as a company, but If Discord gives a shit enough to invest in the Linux client to capture more users, Linux is on the right track to grow even more. They don’t care about Linux current user base. They want the user base of what it can become.

I haven’t fully enjoyed Sonic’s transition to 3D. The 2.5D & on-rails parts do work, but I don’t think the free roaming sections are as good as other 3D games, and I don’t know if it’s the speed to blame or the auto-aim or what is it that just doesn’t click with me as much as the 2D games did.
I really wish I could have fun with the newer titles but I haven’t be able so far.

Codeberg for hosted, Forgejo for selfhosted.
They are great.

Edit: looking for a mirror.

Well, I don’t care. I freaking love Steam, I was able to switch to Linux 2 years ago thanks to them!. If someone can’t take a joke, let them be. I’m the biggest GabeN fan there is. But I fear for his death. It fills me with uncertainty. Hopefully things don’t change and also GOG learns of Valve’s way. Imagine GOG officially supporting OpenGamePad UI and contributing to Proton. Dreaming is free!
Yes, but if I understood correctly, Steam’s implementation is vastly superior because it crowd sources the work to players. Meaning almost every GPU in existence will receive a cache. Microsoft’s solution can’t rely on a community because it’s small, thus relies on the developer providing the shader cache, which means older GPUs probably won’t get them and also it will be implemented on a per-developer, per-game basis and past games won’t get it.
