The childcare centre is going to wonder if I have a licence. I had to drop something off this morning and between a car in the driveway and construction in the street, it was easier to just hop on the bike

Nearly finished watching Quiet on Set , about Nickelodeon.

it bothers me that companies will overlook pedophiles with a criminal background as long as the money is coming in 😡

companies need to be made to have it be financially unworthwhile, like billions in fines and jailtime

I am never up this late, but I took Mr 10 to Hamer Hall to see the MSO play Return of the Jedi. Fantastic performance, and a good excuse for a day off school tomorrow/today. And I am that tired I cannot think… goodnight peeps. Sweet dreams.

    So market research this morning:

Go to an office setup like a faux supermarket. You put on these eye tracking glasses and walk down the aisle.

All so they can figure out where to best place chocolates on a shelf.

    Good times lol

Half way home on the train last night the mrs texts me and goes “oh and I’ve gotta show you a scratch I found on the car” get home and yep, someone’s opened a car door on it. Checked over the dashcam footage but cant see shit. She is sure it wasn’t there yesterday morning and I believe her cause she woulda seen it during the daycare drop off.

This one probably aint her fault, but maaaan I’m frustrated. It was fixed for all of 24 hours! The fuck is going on with my luck with cars.

In a shopping center recently I came back to a decent dent in my car. No note. I think several reasons: cars are bigger and wider so less space to open doors, people are more careless, people are more entitled. I’ve seen people let their trolleys just roll into the car next door, happily using it as a trolley stop when unloading their shopping. They don’t ever lean it on their own car, of course.

So I watched Quiet on Set.

It’s a post modern series that does very little other than look at very few facts and talk to victims about their feelings.

No experts in the child acting business, child safety or law are talked to. No forensic psychiatrists are talked to about the kind of people these criminals are. No solutions are explored other than, "we should stop this. "

But there ARE experts out there who deal with looking after child safety, there are experts in law regarding child abuse , there are psychiatrists who deal with child abusers in court.

Over all this show was nothing but victim porn that gave no solutions. I doubt the makers of the show even understand how what they did is very little help.

And I’m sure the adults interviewed about their experiences thought they might be helping other people in the same situation.

But without solutions it’s very little help at all. It’s just more exploitation.

I give it 1 hobbit for dealing with the subject of male rape at all.

It took less than 30 seconds looking up sag aftra on line, they have so much information on there about looking after child actors. Looked up a security expert, deBecker, he has information on protecting children.

They could have interviewed producers who work with children to get some perspective on what good people do.

How hard would it have been to interview these experts.

I admit, I am very angry for these people who were abused, even raped. Them and their whole families have been destroyed.

Here is how this is a modern show. The makers demonstrated how the abuse is enabled by the companies turning a blind eye as long as money is being made. By implication the solution is , “they should stop doing it” and morally they should

but old fashioned me ( and sag atfra, the actor’s union ) know that you can’t rely on arseholes to stop, that, yes it’s not fair but saying not fair is not going to help anything. It’s like crossing a road, cars shouldn’t run us over but they still do. That’s why we take care when crossing roads and we might use crossings. Saying cars shouldn’t run us over doesn’t help, it doesn’t mean we can just walk out on the road. Abuse is the same. Taking care of ourselves is not victim blaming. Prevention is not victim blaming. It’s accepting that abusers can’t be relied on.

Studios like to tell talent there are hundreds of people lining up to take their job so they should be grateful for what they have.

They never seem to apply the same logic to the creepy people making middling TV shows that any writer could helm.

Think I’ve broken my boyfriend slightly… now that the nights are cooler, I haven’t been turning the fan on to sleep with and suddenly he’s having awful sleep. Last night it was a bit warmer, so I turned it back on and he slept so well. White noise ftw!

If you want some noise without the fan you can get phone apps to play white noise. I use one called “sleep sounds” which lets you mix different types of sounds to make something you like - I use natural sounds which includes things like running water, rain and wind sounds as well as things like frog and bird noises if you want. You can also do things like train or city noises. You can mix in different things and vary the volume of different components to get something you like. It’s free to use (a small cost if you want to remove ads).

If you or he have an iPhone there’s an option in settings to play various types of background noise, including white noise.

Edit: You can access it by going to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Background Sounds. Using the built in option might avoid ads being played and waking you guys up.

I turn my fan on regardless of season, because I can’t sleep otherwise. If it’s cold, I just face it away from me and keep it on the lowest speed.

I think I’m going to need to be doing this! We’ve moved into a house that might almost be “too quiet” for him to sleep without it anyway! I love having the fan on anyway because it makes snuggling easier!

I have my google home/nest mini thing on my bedside table which I stream noise through when I don’t want to use my fan. That helps me. I often listen to rain storm sounds but there’s one track which usually gives me pretty vivid dreams https://open.spotify.com/track/0YTKlaMszVp6rja34CzUDs?si=d12d51059ab243e8

Might not want to try sleeping to that on repeat without spotify premium though, it might throw ads between plays.
