Had a lovely trip to Melbourne. Weather was great. I got to see my brother and neices. We went to dinner at La Bon Ton (which was delicious, but my God can someone get place some proper lighting) then we watched the first quarter of North v Melbourne before going to see Seinfeld perform.

It was my first ever time seeing a comedian live and it was hilarious. I’m gonna have to check out some more.

Even went on a few ‘dates’ from those oh-so-fun dating apps. I get like zero matches back home, but flying into melbourne my phone was pinging and I was basically feeling like that Nic Cage Con-Air meme with his long, luscious hair. They both knew I lived in Tassie so it was really meeting as friends, but it was nice to talk to people again. My conversational skills have definitely improved at least.

Came back home yesterday, definitely caught something. Probably from my neices. Feeling run down and throat has a weird taste. Stuck a swab up my nose but no COVID.

Back to the grind today :(

Used to love Le Bon Ton. Last time I went the quality wasnt as good as it used to be, but ran into Dylan Alcott and his dog. Hope its gotten back to good. What did you get? The Brisket is amazing! and honestly the chicken is pretty good too.

My brother and I shared the little bit of everything plate. I wasn’t that hungry. It had brisket, pulled pork, chicken and sausage. Brisket was amazing. Sausage was great as well.

I tried to get an early night last night and hopped into bed at 8, but I just couldn’t slip into sleep. I took a mg of melatonin and it didn’t work, so I took another after an hour or so. By 2am I’d taken 4mg and still couldn’t sleep. It was honestly really weird. I was tired and could barely open my eyes, but just couldn’t click into the sleep zone. I wasn’t really thinking about anything, I was just laying with my eyes closed. I’ve never had that happen to me before

(And I was moderately tired when I got into bed, which makes it stranger)

I’ve been giving the finger to 6am rev heads on my dog walks. It’s a suburban 40 zone, fuck their muffler, fuck their crackle tune.

I had a rev head in a WRX tailgate me and just about run me off the road when I was taking a load down to the new place. At 6 am, and in the rain to boot.

haha as a former Subaru driver I will apologies, we sometimes forget the rain affects other drivers. Though i woulda thought in a turbo’d AWD you’d have to be a bit more careful, guess not.

Came home last night to this:

Mr P reckons he fell through his bed, tried to fix it and couldn’t, and then smashed it up and threw it out onto the garden he’s just spent ages trying to tidy up. Now he’s sleeping on a mattress on the floor. I talked about getting a new bed, but my MIL said “how ridiculous! bloody leave him there and he can enjoy it!” With all the kerfuffle, nobody remembered to put the bins out 🤦🏼‍♀️😭

Changed the car insurance to a monthly payment, which costs a little more but is more manageable for me. With Elders therapy appointments, his laptop needing to be taken to get fixed, and the possibility of having to buy a new bed (and the Minipeelers are due new mattresses as well) the cheaper annual payment is not really an option anymore.

    Good morning everyone! 🤣

throws Mr P into the garden

      Kidding! I’m kidding!

But yeah I think if he wants a new bedframe after that he can save up the money and make the arrangements.

      Echoing the WTFs.
Re: new mattresses, Bunnings do a very affordable box mattress. I presume it comes in single or double? Possible option.

One of last night’s dreams involved being on a cruise ship and sharing a room with some friends. Unfortunately I missed the first two days of sailing and when I boarded, I asked the friends to show me where the room was and they had no idea. We then walked laps of the back corner of the ship looking for the room and it was no where to be found. I woke up feeling tired from hauling around my luggage! Think I’m feeling a bit of the mental load lately, which logically, I have no need to.

Went down to Fairfield yesterday, it’s such a nice spot.

I lived there for a few years and I feel now I didn’t get to take full advantage of it. If I had the pannier bags for my bike then I’d never have to take the car to the main street

That deli/smallgoods supermarket up the non-station end of the strip was great. Used to be like a shop in a shop, called Marissa’s kitchen. Best selection of cheese I’ve seen in Melbourne. I think it had some kind of woggy name last time I was there, Cardamone’s or similar.

They do have a great selection. I never went there much because it was on the other side of station street to where I lived and crossing is a nightmare.

A Lebanese supermarket has opened there, Oasis, and the place is great. They make a lot of their own products and everything there is quality

Movie Review. Pixels. An Adam Sandler kids movie with a neat idea, aliens in outer space have seen our old school video games and thinking they were a declaration of war and challenge arrive on Earth and attack. Pixels refers to what happens when a person or thing is hit by alien fire. So anyway, some old guys who wasted their youth in arcades save the day.

It’s a totally cute concept and looks really cool on screen. Story is a bit thin but do 12 year olds care?

I’ve been procrastinating sending off an important email for about three months now. I did 95% of the email (basically a structured essay with thorough citations) and got stat decs done to back it up, plus all the other supporting documents I need. Since then I’ve been having severe anxiety about finishing it every day and I haven’t touched it since. My cursed ADHD + anxiety combo has had me in a vicious cycle of not doing anything about it yet worrying still. I’m kept up at night with the dread of not finishing such a simple task, completely helpless to and at the mercy of my shoddy executive functioning.

Today, I’m breaking that cycle. I’m fucking going to proof read it and send it off even if it’s not “perfectly” done, it’s going to happen despite all my brain’s attempts at stopping it. I’m not happy with it, but it’s better late and imperfect than never and forgotten.

Had a restless night due to pain until I got up and took a large dose of Panadol osteo at 4:30, then promptly crashed until 9. I honestly think the last time I slept that late was the night Mum has the stroke - and I only fell asleep at about 5 that time.
Also I see my streak of having no dreams while the DT has weird dreams continues.
