International shipping to Australia is so fucking expensive, even for small things. We really are at the ass end of the world.

I looked at having a small 100g roll of tape from a Japanese video game company I really liked forwarded from Japan once. Fucking 40 bucks for shipping. The tape itself is only the equivalent of 6 bucks. I asked why, and apparently it’s because FedEx have a large minimum shipment size and weight or something. They refused to use Japan Post, which would’ve been like a 40th of the price.

Also paid 15 bucks in postage to get more melatonin from the states. Not that bad, relative, but the entire package, including box, is less than 100g.

Nah, you just channel your inner boomer, and rant about the price of things these days and how no government has done anything right since Harold Holt was the prime minister back in 1967

My earbuds have foam tips and they get dirty very easily. Soaked in dishwasher detergent, but kind of just want over ears now. Earbuds are good with glasses though.

I love my over ears. They’re noise cancelling too (works much better than in ear noise cancelling imo). In ears always make my ears feel uncomfortably pressurised, small or large tips don’t help. Can’t have them any further out of my ear or they fall out.

I’m going to have to have a word with the MIL about taking the kids out during the day.

The point is to get them to sleep. One only slept when they got back, and the other didn’t sleep at all and had a nap from 5-8, meaning I only got the two of them down now.

Not to mention driving all over Melbourne with them and getting toys they don’t need from op shops. I’d be fine with that but they’re always cheap remote control cars without the remote,so they don’t work properly and are full of tiny parts if they ever break

New corporate buzzword I absolutely despise - Journey

    It’s not a fucking journey. It’s a process.

Stop trying to make boring shit appeal interesting. It’s boring, but that’s a how it is. Changing the label doesn’t make it exciting.

Bloody hell, these courier please people have anger issues. I heard skidding tyre noises while I was in the shower, just chalked it up to an odd midday hoon. Whatever. Then a minute later I heard somebody absolutely pounding on the door, bloody dodgy, I didn’t know who TF it was (my mind went straight to the old kid) so I got out of the shower and checked the camera, and a bloke in a high vis shirt was running away from the door. Then I get an email: “CourierPlease: we’ve successfully delivered your parcel”

Ran across the road, in front of a car, got beeped at by the person he ran in front of, then floored it just about the second he got in his little van. Wouldn’t have even had enough time to put a seatbelt on. I suppose that’s what happens when you put people on very strict quotas and treat them as glorified doordash drivers but for parcels, but it’s fricking ridiculous!

They are one of the worst courier companies that I absolutely would avoid on any given day of the week.

They have a horrible online rating for what they do to people with packages.

There’s only certain couriers I use because of this otherwise it’s auspost.

I always try to go for auspost when it’s an option because they’ve never lost a parcel on me. There was the time they delivered the neighbours parcel to me and took mine to the post office (they were meant to take the neighbours parcel to the post office and deliver mine to my house), but that was fixed quite quickly.

I think PF Logistics goes in my book as the worst of the courier companies because of how they “delivered” my laptop charger, but Courier please goes second. They never honour my request for a signature and just forge my signature, but they generally put it in the postbox or at my door. Where as PF, they didn’t even fucking bother. They threw it vaguely in the direction of my postbox and called it a day. Didn’t even bother to tell me they’d delivered it for 12 or so hours.

Also Aramex delivered me back my laptop after I had to RMA it to Asus (hard drive died), and they left it about halfway down my driveway. To be fair, it was under a camera and also under the shelter of the eaves, but it would’ve only been 20 more steps to the front door, or even under the verandah.

I think only really auspost or startrack bother with signatures because if you don’t sign for it - it’s on you and you’ll be going to pick it up from the post office, where as all these little courier companies can’t take it to a LPO, and they usually don’t open up their depots for pickups, so if you don’t sign for it, they’ll just have to try and deliver it to you again tomorrow, which makes more work for them. Also, although the auspost PDC boys are contractors too, I assume that either they get some sort of base pay, or they don’t have such strict quotas. I think the Fourier companies are mostly just knockoff uber but for parcels. I know PF and that one with the idiotic name (ZoomToMe or some stupid shit like that) are just a couple of bloke’s cramming as many parcels as possible into a corolla and delivering it vaguely in the direction of your house (if their aim is good anyway)

I’ve been reinstalling my steam library onto the new hard drives, but it was saturating my entire connection, so I limited it to 1Mbps while I was doing other things. But I forgot to turn it off before I went to sleep… So this morning I woke up to it having only downloaded 1 or 2gb… I swear as soon as I move out and can safely afford (and am actually eligible for) gigabit, I am going for it.

Another semi related ungratefulness rant: I have been trying to convince them to upgrade us to at least a 100Mbps connection almost since I moved in (we currently have 50), but when I’ve raised it, they just send an IT bloke around to try and install an extender (for some reason I can’t get it through to them that the problem isn’t that we aren’t achieving the speeds they pay for, it’s that they don’t have us on a high enough speed tier for 4 people, particularly with me being a little data hoarder). Also, because of their internet censorship device, he’s never actually been able to figure out how to get it working. I’m actually pretty sure the orgs IT dept don’t have the credentials for the censorship box, hence why the extender doesn’t work.

Also I really fucked with their internet setup, and I removed their internet censorship device, bought my own router, and upgraded all the wiring to cat6. If they send their IT man around again, he’ll realise what I did and probably try to either replace my router or seize control of it, and reinstall the censorship box. The old router was kneecapping our speeds, and then the censorship box was quadrupling our ping, so that’s probably a worse outcome than sucking it up and dealing with it.

      /Rant (sorry)

MWave still haven’t shipped my damn GPU. It has now been 9 days since I purchased it. I want it a week ago

Actually I really wanted it 3 months ago when I broke my current GPU, maybe that’s why I’m so impatient now

    MWave rant part 4040209294930182748919183

MWave just sent me an email to say that my order has been delayed and they don’t know when they’re going to send it out. But in any case, we’ve passed the next day cutoff now, so I won’t be getting it this week.

I found another 12gb rtx 3060 (same graphics card but different brand) for 15 bucks cheaper at centrecom. I really want to go get a refund and just go pick up the other one myself from centrecom which is only a short drive away. I’d end up saving even more, because I wouldn’t need to pay for transit insurance or delivery fees. But I get the vibe MWave are the type to hold onto every cent for as long as possible, so I imagine I probably wouldn’t receive it for a month. I’m getting annoyed, because I’m sure that when I ordered it, it said it was in stock in their warehouse, and then after I ordered it they changed it to say it was in stock at their supplier. And evidently paying for express post from MWave doesn’t make them pay for express post from their supplier.

Maybe I need to learn some patience, but they just haven’t been very transparent in the whole process, and they charged me every type of fee they possibly could. Bank surcharge, card surcharge, shipping, postal insurance. I spent what’s (for me) a lot of money. I’m actually pretty sure it’s the most money I’ve personally spent in a single transaction ever. It’s actually getting to the point where there’s a little seed of doubt sown in my mind, and I’m wondering if they ever will post it, or if maybe I’ve gone and bought my graphics card from a fake MWave.

E: I realise I’ve been complaining about MWave a lot. I’ll stop. Unless something’s wrong with my order when it arrives again, I won’t complain about them anymore. Also moved this one into a spoiler

I did this exact same check tonight and same opinion. The timezone isn’t great for seeing any of the bigger events live. Not going to be like Tokyo.

There’s a good chance of them replaying the ceremony as they’ve done that in the past if memory serves me right.

You might even be able to replay it on the 9 website as well.
