Let’s say Sunday is NoPo day, for example. I think we’d all be in a better mood that day.

      my existence is considered “political”.

I wish this would give you (and others) a pause to reflect on held opinions.

i mean, what pause can i do? i would like to exist.

Are you saying my preference to exist in society and not be discriminated against is just an opinion to be debated? because i am very tired of debating that topic.

Whatever belief you’re holding. You’re not going to stop existing.

Politics is dirty. The propaganda is real and everywhere. Good propaganda pulls at “feeling” and “emotions.” If they can get you mad about something, the propaganda worked.

If your self identity is “political,” they have won. Thats exactly what they want. They got you. They will use you to help push their agenda. Im sorry this is rough, but it is what it is. I’m gonna say it… you’re going to be used as a pawn of the left.

Ah yes, sexual orientation isn’t political, that’s why every LGBT+ person has never had any issues with adoption, finding bathrooms that align with how they present (without committing a crime), have never been sent to a legal reeducation camp, and aren’t considered to be illegal in existence (man what was the Russian Government, a political entity’s take on LGBT+ folks and their relationships, I can’t remember).

                  What…

Maybe unfortunately, but the sexual orientation of folks (homosexuality) is definitely used as a tool by politicians to push certain agendas. Politicians will pander to these groups like they do to many other groups.

OOP said, “My existence is political.” And wasn’t wrong.

Just on the Everything feed with a bunch of filters & blocks, and a specific block for the word “anime”. I still end up blocking individual anime communities on a regular basis. That has been happening for over a year now, so there are a lot of them. I’m surprised you never see it. What are you on?

The problems is what constitutes as politics is very different to different people. Is a gay man posting about his relationship with his husband political?

Good luck getting a tankie to shut the fuck up, sadly politics (or a tenuous grasp of) is all they know.

    Poor little cretins.

It’s a type of person, not any one person. You won’t really be able to avoid them completely here. They’re the type of person who won’t shut the fuck up about how the U.S. is actually an authoritarian state and glazes the fuck out of places like China/Soviet Russia.

You will likely see for yourself what I mean.

This is already possible, on any day of the week you desire, without affecting anybody else’s preferences. I assume you’ve subscribed to certain communities that you enjoy. If so, you simply switch your view to the Subscribed feeds. You can switch back anytime you want to All. As a bonus, you could even limit yourself to viewing only the communities on your instance by using Local.

I know that comes off a little snarky, but I don’t know what you do or don’t know, so I’m going with the assumption you don’t know. Otherwise, as others have suggested, you can block communities and instances, and also add keywords to filter out specific topics.

Edit: looks like it’s a feature request for the webui. I know Mlem has a keyword filter.

The issue is not politics posting. It’s politics posting in non-political subs. Like people posting about trump on this community and calling it a shower thought

If there is a community that has a mix of content you like, and content you don’t like, you can make a post / reach out to the mods to set up something like that.

It would be harder to do on the instance level, and impossible across instances.

For your request specifically: It’s very hard to define “politics” and so I would be against such a community rule. It would make a lot of unnecessary work for the mods and be annoying for users trying to post in a community they aren’t familiar with.

Personally, if I was still seeing the content I don’t like 85% of the time, I wouldn’t be that much happier. I’d rather just block it and be done with it.

People who complain about “politics” on this platform really show their whole ass by revealing they’re actually just right-wing nutjobs or Russian trolls. So which are you?

Have you considered that some people actually get tired of the constant vitriol and negativity that accompany internet politics, even if you generally align with the prevailing opinions? Also god forbid you are actually centrist or conservative and want to be able to look at memes and tech news in peace without being reminded about The Illegitimate Colonizer State of Israel for the ten millionth time

Just block em. By blocking a half dozen politics subs and a dozen or so chronically online leftist agendaposters I’ve really cleared the air. Makes the experience a lot more enjoyable. :)
