A little Negative Nancy (sorry to any Nancys that may be reading this)

Assignment that was almost seven days overdue is done and submitted. I have no idea where the time went or what I have been doing. All I remember is the stressing.

Two more due end of this week. At least one of them is more or less half done. I’m just worried I won’t finish them in time.

I will try my best and use this as a learning experience. I will use myself as an example for my Future Students of What Not To Do.

Then I will be done with uni, climb the Harbour Bridge, and transform into HighExperience2060.

The hits keep on hitting. Told I have the diabeetus last week. This afternoon I get the call that my nan has passed away, so with my parents in America I’m handling things with my best British stiff upper lip and just now I finally sat down after having to call my mum and tell her that her mum has died then dealing with the paperwork, looked at my phone and it appears the reason I stopped hearing from the woman I was interested in persuing things with is that she might have taken her jerk ex back.

Sprinkle in a couple of minor work annoyances like people ignoring things I say when I’m meant to be a voice of authority and I’m just having a grand old time. Yaaaay.

A courier is meant to come today to pick up the old work laptop. I was given the wonderfully specific window of 9:30 to 17:30. Kids are dropped off, I’m about to shower, and I’m ready to hunker down and not go anywhere until he comes to pick it up.

Because you know he’ll come if I go outside or the next time I go to the toilet

My work is terrible at asset management. I have so many old devices kicking around it’s stupid. I should just dump them all at the office with someone sometime but they’re all long-forgotten.

I have a work Windows Phone in my desk somewhere… thing belongs in a museum.

I have two laptops from old roles that never bothered to arrange collection. I gave one to the MIL so she has an actual computer and took one for myself as the linux test driver.

God, I remember those Nokia Windows phones. They gave Trevor in GTAV a windows phone to show how insane he was, it just dates the game to a specific time period now.

Doing my best not to feel anxious about today’s inspection and any forthcoming emails from the landlord. Very grateful for psych session later today though the emails will probably come tomorrow or later in the week. Hoping I can book in a session for next week too.

Think I’m going to treat myself to pizza tonight. Salmon pizza

Try and remain calm. See if you can document things as they happen on your phone if you’re able to incase you need it for evidence at VCAT while it’s still fresh in your memory.

A treat for yourself sounds well deserved.

Absolutely zero point in stressing out before anything happens. sets you up for arguments you may not need to have and locks you into a position you may not want to hold. feel what you gotta feel but ride the wave of it all if you can.

So far no emails or notes left around, nothing seems to have been disturbed. LL has a habit of dropping bombs on Friday afternoons so we’ll see what transpires through the week.

Unit I viewed today was way too small. Only large enough for a bar fridge, and a communal laundry. Below my budget but not worth the savings

I wish I had friends who were free on a Tuesday evening to just shoot the shit and share a pizza with. I remember long conversations in cars with uni friends after class, those halcyon days when we didn’t have so many Commitments and Schedules…

It’s cooling down quite a bit now after a warm afternoon and gone all cloudy; don’t entirely feel up to a walk. But I AM having that damn pizza and catching up on today’s episode of OMITB after the toll of yesterday. I shall walk to work and back tomorrow instead. Done.

But first… some reading on schema therapy…

E: unrelated but DT fam, any recommendations for family friendly dinner spots in the CBD? Friend is visiting with their family from interstate, kid is ~2, mainly about vibe and not being insanely loud

It’s probably not the same but what about a phone call?

That’s than better than nothing and at least you can let it out and feel better about verbally having an outlet?

It’s definitely cooler now. The sun has gone away and the cold breeze was out. I actually felt cold again.

      Go go Pizza!

People don’t really seem to be into phone calls at my age! Well there’s one person I could’ve hit up normally but she’s overseas at the moment.

It certainly has gotten cool again. Was nice to whip out a summer top for the day anyway.

I’m still a phone person but yeah I understand. A lot of people around me don’t seem to have time for phone calls either and can only text back and junk.

I think it’s going to be cooler over the next few days so the warmer weather didn’t last too long this time around.

Tell me about this Salmon Pizza. Is there anything else on it?

It has bocconcini and dill and capers… But I changed my mind and went for the two large traditional pizzas and garlic bread special for $39, and just got vegetarian and marinara. Felt full pretty quickly but this means dinner for another couple of days which is great.

Aldi pasta, I think it’s Remono or something. Cooks just as well and comes out perfectly al dente just like the more expensive Barilla brand.

Also I love their organic pasta sauce because it’s cheap and it’s so tasty.

Aldi chocolate is typically 10X better than the cadbury stuff, but these days a cadbury block on sale for 3 bucks is better value. Know its not what you mean, but still technically accurate to your question: I like Kia better than Hyundai. Hyundai are a bit uninspired. I also prefer Mitsubishi to Nissan.

Another vote for the Aldi chocolate range which is incredible and leagues ahead of Cadbury and just about anything you can get from the Colesworth shelves. Maybe Lindt is a contender but like 3x more expensive than the Aldi stuff.

Woolies or Aldi peanut butter. Woolies, Aldi or Coles soy milk bricks. Coles and Aldi dark chocolate.

Uhh… generally it involves needing to buy brand because the generic contains an allergen or causes a reaction. So Balnea sorbolene bar ‘soap’ and Cerave pump lotion.

Coles/Woolies or whatever is cheapest bottled water vs Mount Franklin or any other fancy brand. The cheap ones are fine. I don’t even know if they still sell Evian here but Evian tastes weird. So does Nestlé’s one whatever that’s called. Obligatory Fuck Nestlé.

Don’t come at me with “just drink tap water it’s great in Melbourne”… I do when I’m home… but I also go on road trips to places with less-than-amazing tap water and/or no chilled water.

Horrified by the sugar content in Nutella, I bought the kids Nutino instead (12% sugar instead of 54%) when they were little. They now much prefer this brand to the original. Which has turned around and bitten me in the end as Nutino isn’t always in stock when/where I need it.

What is “cheap cheese” in Melbourne? In 2016, it was $10/kg for the cheap cheese. In Perth, you can reliably get cheese for $8.50/kg. It went up for a while last year to ~$10ish but has come back down recently to $8.50 again.

My theory is dairy goods in general are cheaper here because we have competing local companies.

Far out. I was wondering where my cat’s treats were if they’d been delivered and looked back on the security camera. Some dero with alcohol in his hand had come right up to my doorstep to steal my parcel in broad daylight.

So now not only does my cat not have her treats this sketchy guy now has my personal details (potentially including my number or email) and knows a woman lives here. Plus any attempts at identity theft that may follow.

That also might explain another parcel I haven’t received.

Fuck this suburb and fuck these people. Scumbags are just multiplying.

I looked into a parcel locker ages ago but have been putting out fires and didn’t get to it.

Man, it’s not like I haven’t ridden in this type of weather a lot, but I do not miss sweaty anything, let alone sweaty leathers.

I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with Independent Living options/renting through the NDIS and wouldn’t mind talking about it?

Group homes and supported living are not appropriate for me. I prefer to stay as independent as possible, need to live alone and choose my own support workers - so I’m very wary about what I’d be getting into especially if my plan ever changed. Hence ILO.

I don’t really trust the NDIS to be honest. But my disability is degenerative, current housing is substandard and dangerous, and despite trying to transfer for years it is just not likely to happen.

NDIS is just a government programme that funds people with disabilities. Don’t think of it as a company or single entity. There are many providers that work within the framework of the NDIS, and your experience within the program will depend 100% on the provider(s) you work with. The bad reputation the programme has is because there are many cowboys and awful operators in there. The government is trying to clean it up, though.

I don’t know how it works first-hand, but people using the scheme generally have someone handling their plan and being their advocate. I have a friend who fulfils this role for her daughter, and it’s basically a part-time job to do it yourself. Most people pay someone to manage their plans.

I’m sorry that I don’t have anything specific to suggest, but NDIS is overall a thing that is good. Don’t be swayed by the bad press thrown at it any more than you’d blame Medicare if you had a bad doctor experience. The programme is expensive, and so of course there are lots of people who want to get rid of it.
