Took the Minipeelers to The Lume for the last time. It was a tradition for us, and we went to almost all of the exhibitions there. The city is a lot more beautiful than I remember

I’ve loved Polly Woodside since I was a child. It always amazes me that they sailed from Dublin over the open ocean in that tiny little ship. Those sailors must’ve been pretty gutsy.

Melbourne in Autumn is magical. As it is in Winter, Spring and Summer. It’s such a beautiful city. Sorry to hear about the end of tradition but also so happy you kept it up! I wonder what will take over the space.

It really IS a beautiful city.

Every suburb I have lived has had beautiful public spaces within walking distance of most people.

I’ve just been informed of the second death in my circle of friends this week.

    I’m,…not enjoying stuff right now

I usually have low expectations when meeting up with friends. I shouldn’t have any at all. But I only have recently realised that I tell myself that I’m not going to feel connected to people when I meet them, because that’s been the majority of my experiences. However, late night car chats are something else. I dropped a friend home and we chatted in the car for like an hour, and it was really lovely. More car yapping sessions please.

As long as we are talking shit, doing some sort of mundane task together, and laughing, I think that’s my deep connection. A psych told me once that close relationships aren’t always formed by talking, and you don’t always need to have something to say. There is great joy in being present and enjoying the company of others. That’s what being human is all about I think.

I think I just witnessed the funniest thing I’ve seen. I was waiting at the tram stop, and tram tracked said it was 15 min away, so I decided to just wait for it.

A guy walks up with a backpack, he looks maybe ~50yo, and waits too. He has a ciggy and then when the traffic dies down he walks into the road a little to see if the tram is coming. It’s still a good 10min away according to my app, so I considered telling him this but decided I couldn’t be arsed with socialising.

He walks onto the road, checking, and coming back a few times, getting more agitated. At this point there’s myself and him, and 4 other women waiting. A tram is coming, I check the app but it still says 5 minutes, so I figure the one coming is not in service. The guy sees it too and thinks it’s THE tram, and when it blows past through the intersection (it said “not taking passengers”), he loses his damn mind! Yelling at the tram that’s now disappearing down the road, gesticulating wilding, swearing, the works haha me and the other women are like 👀 at him because he’s right in the middle of us (loosely grouped) 😂😂 he doesn’t direct any of it at us though, and grabs his bag and storms off.

2 min later the actual tram arrives and we get on, angry guy not in sight. I get a window seat and we take off. I look out the window and there’s the guy on the footpath 😂😂😂😅 he spots the tram and loses his damn mind again!!! I couldnt hear him of course, but he kicked his bag and gesticulated again 😂😂😂 I can’t stop laughing!!!

I hope he made it to his destination! Thanks to him, the 15 minute wait felt like no time at all!

    Beeeach.

It was lovely and calm out there. A warm breeze and soft light.

Clambered onto a high part of the sea wall and inched along the safety fence until I could find a spot to hop down onto a little spit of sand where a fishing float had washed up. I got looks, I laughed. The float is mine …

a little crab shell, there are many here

TIL that the word lavender is derived from the same root word that launder/laundry does: Proto-Indo European *leue - to wash.

Lavender was used to make laundry smell nice.

Yeah. I think there’s just so little space, energy, and a-hole neighbours plants intrude to smother/suck up all the moisture and nutrients.

Also I can’t let Melbcat out to kill or repel the rats

I think I’ve officially broken the dog only 4 days in.

3 walks a day might be pushing it. Determined for him to lose weight though.

    Sorry hambam.

    reddit hacking hijinks

I got an email saying my reddit premium was cancelled. It seems like a legit email.

    I did not cancel it.

I’m wondering if this is fishing for banking information

I have sent an email to reddit notifying about this

I have not touched banking info.

Miss Meow doesn’t know why things are being moved, but she approves of having extra space in the cupboards. It makes it much easier for a cat to explore.

I think I’ve packed the bulk of the fragile stuff, hopefully that means packing will go a bit faster now. It is a bit hard to find space to put the boxes though.

Way more than can fit in the van, this is definitely removalist territory. I have managed to disassemble some furniture to clear a bit more space, and I think I can move the lounge to get a bit more.
