This is probably the biggest thing keeping me from switching. Other apps almost feel claustrophobic with how little of the screen is used. At least last time I explored.
Edit: just tried again and Summit is pretty close I guess.

Edit: answering my own post now but with some customization that either didn’t exist before or I missed I have gotten even closer.

Connect can look exactly the same if you set it that way. And it can switch what side the thumbnails are on. I use it like this, though I leave the buttons enabled so it’s slightly less compact than this.
Blorp has a compact view. it’s not the same, but definitely compact enough.
but definitely compact enough.
Debatable. If extra compact had thumbnails I would agree. Maybe that can be enabled. I’ll have to look into that further. Regardless I appreciate the suggestion. I’ll follow the development. I do realize I’m a unique case. I have a large phone and have always tried to make my apps evoke the old reddit list style.

Sure, I assumed “compact enough” kind of gave it a IMO vibe by default. I’ve been using its card style ever since I started using it, so not a fan of compact views really, but the compact style seems compact enough for my linking, if I were to change my ways.
Worth keeping an eye on development ar least.

Very good point. Sorry, I didn’t mean to be argumentative or confrontational. It’s too easy to be contrarian or to nitpick online without meaning to but that’s no excuse.
I appreciated your input and I will more actively follow its development.
Don’t worry about it. I also didn’t mean to sound condescending or anything of sorts. It was just an observation.
Another plus would be that Blorp supports both Lemmy and Piefed, but most do nowadays I guess.
Edit: wording.
I made a piefed account but haven’t used it much despite the features being tempting. This may be a good excuse.

Connect’s list views are pretty compact.
Disclaimer: I’m the dev
That looks pretty good. Not quite the density I’m used to but very close and I know I’m an edge case so no slight against you. I actually used Connect a lot when I first joined here and Sync wasn’t out yet. I’ll give it another go soon. I’m even still a beta tester on the play store but I can withdraw if you want since I’m not a daily user presently.
I used Sync since their original launch for reddit.
I use Thunder for Lemmy now. Recommended.
I went from Sync to Summit and it is by far the app that feels best to me, even though it’s not a 1-to-1 copy of Sync.
Boost has views called “Compact”, “Dense”, and a bunch of others

Thank you for the screenshots. I have it installed and will trial it soon. Just bought the ad free version regardless since I appreciate its continued development.
I like Boost but it still doesn’t have swipe gesture actions, right? I can’t live without those anymore.
It has been a while. I’ll give it another look, thanks.
Voyager is quite compact.
And open source.
Also it is under current development.
I have tried voyager since its inception. I appreciate what they’re doing but right now I’m only concerned point one and it falls short by two whole posts. Thank you for the suggestion however
I don’t usually like to bring this and I’m not gonna call anyone out but this feels like a weird thing to downvote? This community is very low traffic. Would either of you care to chime in?
My hunch is that some users reflexively voted based on an emotional response they had to an item in the screenshot, without bothering to read the post title, body text, or what community this was posted in.
That makes sense and wasn’t something I considered at the time. I regret calling out the downvoters, especially now that the post is no longer in the negative. It was more curiosity than anything else.
