This was always a dumb decision. Bungie lost their soul and magic over a decade ago.

oh no, multinational entertainment giant bought something at the end of the pandemic hype and now has to write down 500 million dollars of a 3.6 billion dollar purchase. I wonder how many execs for bonuses on the other 3.1 billion.

What genre should a new game in a trilogy of story-driven, dark sci-fi, single-player games be? Live service slop, of course.

I have nothing against Marathon. I just don’t want to pay that much money for an extraction shooter when none if my friends like extraction shooters. Not only that, I don’t have time for another microtransaction riddled online shooter. Back in the day I fell down that hole with Apex Legends and Overwatch and the live service and battle pass model takes literally all the fun out of a game. Now I’m here almost a decade later and I don’t play any of those games anymore and none of my time or money wasted for digital fun bucks can ever be recovered. The only one I still play is Overwatch but I absolutely refuse to give them money ever since they made it F2P. Any battlepass I’ve ever completed for Overwatch was completely by accident and my life is so much better without the unneeded stress of challenges and battlepass points.

Honestly, the microtransactions are nonexistent in game. Pure cosmetic bullshit like gun color schemes and stickers.

I personally really enjoy it because I am a solo player. The solo experience is more akin to a horror game than an action game.

They got caught using unaffiliated artists’ work without attribution or compensation

Like okay maybe once sure, honest mistake. But they’ve done it multiple times. With that long a history of stealing the work of independent artists and only compensating them after getting caught red-handed makes you really wonder how much they’ve gotten away with that just hasn’t been noticed yet.

That’s what I could find with a cursory search. There’s at least a couple more I had in a previous post I made but it was awhile ago but Lemmy doesn’t have a way to easily search your previous comments so I’m not gonna bother scrolling back a years worth to find it 😮‍💨

It’s a cool game but it’s niche af.
They took a beloved series that was arguably the best doom style shooter in its day and made it an online only extraction shooter with mtx. I’m still wondering who tf they made this for.

      The MTX are cosmetic only.

I think the game is amazing, but it is not only niche, it is also sweaty as fuck. It’s a game that I am very happy exists, but there is no way it could carry a AAA studio.
