lemmy.world has simply gotten too crowded
switching to a smaller instance really solves a lot of these issues
Yep, keeping my Lemmy.world account but moved to a smaller instance today solved all the issues I was having. Ruud is doing an amazing job but it’s grown insanely fast.
Yeah I don’t blame them a bit, there’s no way to prepare for such an increase of users.
If Lemmy had a feature to move my account to a different instance similar to what Mastodon has, that would’ve solved it for me, unfortunately I already have everything set up the way I like it here so starting another account and resubscribing just feels very… eh…
. Saving this for later. Thanks
Easier to just mock the volunteers running the server. That’s more reasonable 🙄
I wasn’t mocking the maintainers, why would you assume that? I merely made a joke.
Funny thing, when you mock someone with dumb jokes, people “assume” you’re mocking them. Weird, I know, but it’s true.
This will be annoying for a little while, but it’s also exciting because it means people are here and using Lemmy.
Mastodon also suffered for a while, but I rarely experience serious trouble anymore.
This kind of pressure is necessary to motivate people to improve the system. Nobody wants to work hard on fixing something nobody’s using.
Wasn’t just me that had that thought then 😂
Hopefully the devs for lemmy can figure out horizontal scaling soon and we’ll see the other side of these teething problems
