Follow-up question - each portafilter is two shots right? So if you end up adding an third shot to a coffee, what do you do with the leftover fourth one?
(Or do you have a smaller, single shot portafilter?)

Great points. Does Steam get around this slightly by having different tags intended for meme reviews? I.e. I think I’ve seen ‘10 people said this review made them laugh’ or something along those lines. That at least makes it a bit easier to filter out the ‘actual’ reviews. I wonder if the cumulative total (on both Steam and Goodreads) averages out the joke/genuine reviews, assuming that a) enough people have left a review and b) there hasn’t been any review bombing.
And yeah there are plenty of books, games and shows out there that I’ve absolutely loved but they’ve been reviewed terribly by professional reviewers. I think on the whole people assign too much weight to arbitrary totals - “Oh this book is a 6/10 so I shouldn’t waste my time on it”. But if you think like this, you’ll miss out on so much.
Storygraph is quite a good alternative from my experience
There is definitely an element of that from the article and I agree it’s ridiculous. Some authors and their followers attack those who give poor reviews (because they can’t accept criticism, instead arguing that a ‘professional’ review would give them a much better score) and on the other side you have people reviewing books that aren’t even out. In many cases it’s no longer a place to find genuine reviews, but an unmoderated wild west with crap at both extremes (a bit like Twitter in that respect). It’s a shame because there are plenty of people leaving great reviews, but it’s becoming much harder to find them.
Wait I’m confused… You’re asking for a fan-made mod to be added to the Switch version of Stardew? 🤔
So it’s an average of the different isotopes that can be found? That’s interesting, I wonder how they work out that average. Do you have to take samples all over the world?
I’m not sure about Vita, but there is a decent 3DS emulator (Citra). I haven’t tested MGS3 on it
I like the sound of this! The Starfield coffee article was funny. $7 a month miiiight be a little bit much for me - but I’ll keep an eye on this and if the journalism is decent and they put out a fair number of articles I’ll definitely consider it. I guess I used to spend around that amount on gaming magazines…
Thanks, I got it working! Well all except the ragdoll mod because that requires you to have all the DLC :(
Thanks for the suggestion! I actually haven’t bought a torch yet, so I appreciate the recommendation :) The SC21 Pro does look like it would meet my needs
I’ll give those two a go! Looking into it, I think I’d need the following mods to get these to work, which isn’t too bad:
One thing I’m not sure about… I installed MO2 on my Deck using this guide which also installs NVSE. But how do I know what version of NVSE it installed? A few mods mention they need a particular version of NVSE.
Yes this is annoying. I like to play games docked, and in order to get them working correctly I have to manually tell Steam to use 1080p resolution for every game. This then gives you more options within the game settings (rather than maxing out at 1200x800) whilst docked. But in most cases I have to then change the in-game setting each time I go from docked to portable.
It does feel like docking is an afterthought with the Steam Deck. I was expecting something more akin to the Switch which has a flawless docking experience. I hope SteamOS improves on this in future.
Some of those look nice! I notice that a lot have pre-requisite mods, and those require their own pre-requisites 😱 I’ll see if I can find some easy to install ones
I’ve started a new playthrough of Fallout New Vegas. Never got round to finishing it last time, so hopefully will do now! So far I’ve added some stability mods and a new radio station. Anyone got any other mod recommendations?
Yeah I guess that’s my take on ‘gamifying things’, but there’s probably a few different ways to do it. I’ve heard that in psychology, rewards are a lot more effective than punishments - so maybe frame it slightly differently. Personally I wouldn’t base things on how well you do in the game, because that could get frustrating - in the worst scenario you’ll already be annoyed at doing poorly in the game, and that’s followed by having to do more work. Instead I’d spin it, so if you do all the tidying reward yourself with an hour of gaming. If you get all your chores done, you get 2 hours of gaming etc.
I agree with what others have said about gamifying life. For example, ‘oh it’s 5pm, I need to spend 30 minutes doing some tidying before I can play a game again’. And for games with no clear end point, set yourself goals so you know when to take a break. ‘Once I’ve built this factory, I need to take an hour’s break before I can play again’.
If you like puzzles and open world games, have you tried The Witness? There are a lot of puzzles to complete so it should take you a while!
Not currently on sale on Steam, but it does drop in price regularly. Depending how you feel about key reselling sites, you might be able to get it cheaper.
The Vita version is flawless, I guess because it’s a native port rather than emulation. Emulation of certain PS2 games can be tricky due to the weird CPU architecture
Thanks for explaining this. So were there many Roman citizens in Britannia, or was it a pretty small ratio of Romans to locals? Did the Roman soldiers give commands to the local elites, who would then tell the locals what to do? And would you say that life changed much for the locals under the new rule?
That’s interesting to know, thanks! Most coffee shops where I live would probably never get busy enough to use a spare shot. Perhaps they change out to a single shot portafilter, but I’ve never noticed.
