  • The problem is the people who use the library don’t have access to the money. They’re just some dev trying to build something and your library is one of their 500 dependencies. The idea of needing to pay for a license means they have to stop building and get other people involved who may or may not approve, which may not be an option if they have a deadline. They will probably just try to find some work around to avoid this.

I wonder if a better approach is to move hundreds of libraries into some kind of joint bundle (a humble bundle). Let companies buy access to them all with one procurement, and also you’ll have more negotiating power and pull if you have a bigger group.

  • Mods on c/politicalmemes took down a post I made saying that it was not a meme (spam was what they called it, it was not spam). When I pointed out that very few of the posts in that community are memes, they banned me.

    Anyway, be careful out there.

Edit: “report abuse” was the reason they gave for banning me. But, it was me reporting a few things that were not memes, like was done to my post. Rather than evaluating whether the reported posts were memes or not, they went on a power trip. Anyway, no idea why the mods of c/politicalmemes follow me around Lemmy. I didn’t even tag them here, and they show up. Powertripping, I guess. But, my point stands, don’t report things for not being memes, only the mod decides what’s a meme, even if they do a poor job at it. And, if you draw attention to that, they’ll ban you and stalk you on Lemmy.

My professor was always trying to get us to use vim or eMacs over an IDE to write our C programs. I’m sorry, I like using a mouse. I know, I know, blasphemy. I’m taking a shortcut. I’m a noob.

When I absolutely have to, I go for vim, mostly because I know a few of the key bindings for it, but otherwise avoid it.

  • Women are better at being friends to each other. I’ve basically given up on trying to make friends with other men because they are terrible friends. At best, they make no effort at all at friendship and are completely passive, requiring you to call and make all the plans. At worst, they are hostile in various ways when you try to befriend them. It is very rare to meet another dude that makes effort to be a friend.

Edit: it’s soooo funny to see this comment being downvoted because it will only perpetuate your loneliness. You deserve it.

  • I’m one. As a Mac user, I haven’t used windows in years, and avoid it like the plague. But, the limited games support meant I had to rely on consoles to get my gaming fix. With Steam’s strong support for Linux, I decided to build a gaming PC for Linux only. It’s been great. I just wish more publishers would support it — the ones adding kernel-level anti-cheat are ruining things, but I’m hoping if enough people switch to Linux, they won’t be able to ignore us.
