Oh that’s good to know, thanks to you as well. I hope something good comes up!
I was curious so I went looking myself. I’d probably start with LPI’s own list of resources:

3·4 days agoGood suggestion, thanks. Honestly I haven’t looked very hard, I would probably enjoy a book club. In Lemmy form I like the idea of a rotating crew of participants with a few regulars, and that it’s not strictly books though I’m sure some book clubs probably feature short stories or articles too.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that reading scores have plummeted in school districts around the U.S.English
8·4 days agoJust speaking for myself, but even though I don’t “need” help I still feel my literacy becoming more siloed and my patience for reading reducing over time, so a community for collaborative/social reading would be motivating for me. Plus I have friends and family who could use the same encouragement or examples of what to read, so I’d participate for the inspo.
I appreciate where you’re coming from, thanks. Though I will say that “weirdly intense energy” isn’t rare on social media and could even suffice as a summary of a good number of interactions. Sometimes people just get worked up over things and I don’t blame them, I’m sure we could dig up a bunch of studies on social media and “rage engagement” as a design principle.
Clearly you’re lashing out, but I’ll mention that I have worked in restaurants. Don’t let that stop you from being aggrieved by a situation that doesn’t concern or affect you though!

112·30 days agoThanks for taking the time to explain yourself! I wanted to jump in to potentially clear up a difference of semantics, y’all are just using different interpretations of a phrase and I think it’s worth exploring.
If I take the person you originally replied to and continue the thought on my own, I think “it shouldn’t be called music” is trying to express that “this content should be fundamentally distinct from music because it displaces artists who, as a group, are finding it increasingly hard to sustain themselves on their art alone”.
If your relationship with music stops at something to tap your foot to, then you may or may not appreciate the value music has for society in the form of things like expression, protest, criticism, unity, and faith. Every time we listen to a bot-generated song, it takes a listen away from a human artist and pushes us toward a world eventually devoid of those artistic contributions.
Whether or not it fits into the same musical category as human-generated media isn’t really the point worth talking about (it’s trained on that after all, of course it’s similar!). What we need is a way to keep it from displacing human-generated art, and I don’t think calling it music or not is enough.

2·2 months agoHey that’s a great perspective, thanks for sharing. Do you ever regret your reliance on keeping your eyes on the sheet, or wish you could improvise better for example? At what point in your learning did this become an issue for you or people you know?
We’re probably approaching this from very different skill perspectives. I think your concerns, though clearly valid, only apply beyond a certain level of mastery. The question I was originally replying to was asking for ways to engage other senses while learning piano, so I assumed perhaps incorrectly that they are not past that point yet. I am a terrible piano player, but I tutor intro to music/piano, so I was giving the tips I use on my tutees. If you still struggle to read music, then I firmly hold that you should always read it while playing, but I will defer to others on tips for people beyond grasping the basics.

This behavior is usually caused by two things:
- A background installer from Microsoft Office called the Teams Machine-Wide Installer, which automatically reinstalls Teams for each user.
- Windows 11’s built-in Chat feature, which is powered by Teams and may reinstall the app during updates or restarts.

Technology@lemmy.world•Quick post about AI-free FireFox Based Browsers (Keep your Addons and avoid the Bloat)English
20·5 months agoI’ll try to give an out-of-the-loop answer to this, if that helps. Concerning “AI” tools, I think the chunk of people who don’t want it included in the browser on any level come in one or both of two forms. One is a moral opposition – for example, a pro-environmental or pro-artist stance. I don’t think those need much explanation, but feel free to say otherwise.
The other is in my opinion is in response to exhaustion. Pro-“AI” features have proven themselves to be untrustworthy at nearly every turn with thoughtless or downright irresponsible implementations. A worthwhile use-case is the exception rather than the norm and It’s tiring to have to constantly check if this time I want it on or not. As a result of opt-in-by-default changes to privacy policies or account settings, my trust in any site or app publishing an “AI” implementation has been broken and it’s nice to have options I don’t have to worry about wherever I can get them. I found it irritatingly tone-deaf that Mozilla wasn’t considering a kill-switch with their first swing at this.
If it seems unreasonable or hard-to-understand, I think taking a step back and looking at the broader software industry rather than just Mozilla will help.
