I’m glad I managed to move most of my plants back to my balcony today despite the exhaustion. Apparently a couple toppled on the central balcony while I was away, leaving a bit of a mess with the potting mix. Friend who watered them while I was away did her best to tidy up but I’m hoping some of the wind and rain washes it away and my relocated plants stay upright.

I had a few pots blow over too, and it’s definitely getting wimdier now. Tonight is not going to be fun. We had a transformer fried possum further down the street too, so our power is a bit patchy while they fix it. Would not like to be a powerline mender in this weather.

Sort of suspect you’re gonna have to go to the end of the street to get the bin tomorrow. The bom app is pinging away alerts.

The Whittlesea Public Gardens care a great spot with one of those miniature roadways for kids learning to ride their bikes. There’s just one thing to keep in mind about the place:

    It’s located in Thomastown

I took the family there once, back in the day when we basically went to every park everywhere we could find. I remember that place because it was so underwhelming. It looks great on Google Maps, big green open space. You get there and it turns out to be one of the most bland spots in all of Melbourne. We never went back.

It may have been done up recently, it was quite nice. The giveaways were how small the plants around the skatepark were and there’s a mini electric car charging station on the bike path

I had too many stimulating things yesterday and couldn’t sleep till 2, felt like a total wreck this am and absolutely couldn’t get out of bed until 1pm - wasted a whole glorious morning of sunshine to do the laundry 😭 let alone go for a walk.

Hurriedly doing it now on a short cycle to get even 2-3 hours of sun in, scarfed down some lunch and gonna try move as many of the plants as I can before Terrible Weather descends on us from the wee hours of tonight. Will NOT beat myself up for the total lack of energy and motivation to get out of bed and embrace life.

I had that kind of day yesterday. It happens. Good luck with the plant moving. I rearranged all mine today (indoor in a sun room so just moved to make the most of the sun). Sometimes sunny days are for sleeping and chores 🤷🏻‍♀️

    vomitting

Fucking hell. I couldn’t put it off anymore. I threw up. In a train toilet.

I managed to make it to the toilet at least, and it mostly went into the toilet, but it’s on my shirt, and my nose is absolutely fucked. I don’t really know what to do, so I’m just hiding in the toilet

Do you have some variety of tour guide/excursion leader? Please report ill. Hiding in the loo won’t help anything. Minimum you need fluids and somebody to collect you from destination.

There are, all volunteers though. Also we’re in the middle of the outback and on our way towards home but won’t arrive until tomorrow evening. We do have a stop at a hotel tonight at around 6-7pm, but there’s no way to get there sooner. I could potentially organise a lift from the hotel back home, but might not be able to

Not ideal. Still please speak up to whomever. If it’s not motion sickness you need care and semi quarantine. Best! 🍵💊

It’s not just me that’s sick. Nobody else is as a sick as me, but a few people came on the train on Thursday coughing and sneezing, and then over the last couple of days I’ve watched more and more people get sick

They can probably sort you out with some Panadol or Nurofen to help ease the inflammation a little. Probably can get you some plain bread or something at lunch. When you stop for lunch find a spot in the sun and get some fluids into you. I’m sorry you got sick on your adventure.

Consider some electrolyte drink if you’re vomiting a lot. Gatorade-like. Even a little sugar and salt in water will do most of what you want if you’ve limited supplies.

I got a Powerade and a flavoured (sugarless) water at the general store. Unfortunately it feels like it’s going to happen again soon

Edit: about 30 seconds after posting this it happened again

The place is not the level of clean I like yet but much better. It’s only the main kitchen bench (saving that until after dinner) and the bathroom (it will survive). I feel much calmer and under control.

But I have done a good declutter on my bedroom cupboards (should help to have spaces for things) and a big rearrange of my weird sunroom so the plants get their winter sun. Have split it up so I have a little spot to curl up and read, my mediation corner is neat and clean and I have a cleared a spot for the clotheshorse.

    Le tired.

Also next medium-big purchase is a bean bag type thing for said reading nook. Any recommendations?

Something strange just happened. From the corner of my eye while watching TV I saw a flash in the sky. Thought it was lightning. About 20 seconds later all of my house lights quickly flashed off and on.

Looking at the radar there’s no thunderstorms around. So what was that? 👽

Moved as many of the plants as I physically could, and the little plant supplies cupboard that is a bitch to carry. Clothes are 90% dry and towels 50% dry and indoors now. The carport is still a disgusting mess and I’ll leave that for another weekend when I’ll also finally get around to installing my dashcam.

    Now I need to:

    • vacuum the house a bit from tramping in and out with plants
    • get onions and potatoes and tuna from colesworth as I wasn’t organised enough to do so from an independent grocer before today
    • bulk up remaining vegan “ragu” with lentils
    • make a lil pot pie with said leftovers and potato
    • make risoni pasta with green peas and Brussels sprouts and tuna
    • clean kitchen
    • shower
    • get ready for tomorrow

That’ll do me, I think. OH AND I NEED TO TEST OUT MY CHILLI FERMENT. @Bottom_racer your thoughts pls.

    chilli ferment.

So this is what it looks like, the ziploc bag sealing off the ferment had some mould on the top side, I think I fished it out without any spores getting into the ferment. There wasn’t heaps of brine but enough to barely cover the top of the chillos.

The liquid was a bit slimy… Should this be a worry? I scooped off the top layer of chilli bits and liquid and I tasted a bit, it’s a little funky and salty and quite hawt but not exactly very sour.

Should I get a pH testing strip and check out the acidity before blitzing it tonight?

Can’t get hold of a pH test today but ordered some online to arrive by Friday. Meanwhile I decided to just blitz and decant and refrigerate. Behold!!

Been tasting a bit more and holy cow it does taste good for just pure chillo + salt, no garlic etc. No off flavours. I used all the brine and it still has a moderately thick yet pourable consistency.

Am loving the absolute FRUITINESS that’s really shone through, normally these are too spicy to feel the fruitiness but fermenting has been perfect for these dudes!! What a new way to enjoy the bounty of chillies. Thank you for planting the seed in me and encouraging me to finally get off my arse and give it a go :) I will definitely be doing more of this next summer. Maybe even with the last chillies that have ripened while I was away.

    Dear Boomers,

It’s ok to have negative/empty space. You don’t need to fill everything up with shit.

Empty space makes a statement in and of itself.

Hmm I don’t know what to have for dinner tonight.

Seems I may have lost my appetite today after having an argument with someone close to me this afternoon.

Need to keep my mind occupied and busy to stop dwelling on things.

Definitely try and put something together, it’ll help take your mind off the argument. I made my risoni pasta with heaps of veg and it’s taken off some of the edge of the day. That sense of accomplishment and completion is useful.

Thanks. I’ll try and make something when my tummy settles.

I might just do a lazy 2 minute noodles night tonight.

I might have some risoni but all I have is baby peas and I’d probably need to season it up a bit though I don’t have much.

Someone here a while back recommended Klean Air for split system air conditioner cleaning.

They responded to my initial inquiry but have ignored my “I’d like to go ahead with it” email and one further follow-up.

Has anyone here had a good experience with a different company?
