Had a new client assigned yesterday and one shift proved it wasn’t going to fly.
The co-ordinator was so quick to agree that I shouldn’t go again (and wanting to know what happened in detail) that I suspect this isn’t their first rodeo with her.
As I said to a friend, I’m too old and not getting paid enough to deal with that BS.

The man and I have decided to go see Deadpool & Wolverine tomorrow.

17 year old me would be happy in the back row. 27 year old me would’ve fallen asleep. 47 year old me just wants to get my monies worth.

yeah this is why I go gold class for this sort of thing. Had Infinity war ruined by kids screaming and carrying on so now if its worth going to the cinemas (and to be clear not much is) I go gold class.

I made a snap decision to go see it today. My session starts at 12:30.

As a 49yo who has been comic book reader/collector since i was 16 I want fun, fan service & clear dialogue (I think my hearing is going).

      Have fun tomorrow.

I’m watching Fantasmas and this is the most bonkers thing I’ve watched all year.

    rambling

Despite wanting to have nothing to do with the modern world at times this feels like the most cathartic TV series ever. Like someone compressed all my millennial stray thoughts and anxieties and imagination and feelings into an insane fever dream of interwoven comedy sketches. There is really nothing like this out there at the moment.

It’s the writer of SNL’s most famous sketches like Papyrus and Wells for Boys doing an entire season of wack which is like a dream come true (okay, I see he’s done another TV show that I have to track down).

I’m glad TV like this gets made; and I’m glad it isn’t as insular and navel-gazing and obnoxiously value-signalling as I feared it might be. There’s an endearing, lovable heart behind the turbocharged surreal/ironic humour.

Worth a watch if you feel like it’s time for something completely different… and want to process life a little differently.

PS Bibo is my favourite character. angrysound.mp3

After my little mini rage on Monday, they pushed child protection along and got the security upgrades happening. The 4 things they promised were:

    • a gate on the driveway (which is currently the only unprotected entrance)
    • security cameras around the property
    • proper locks on the side gates (currently 2/3 gates are just a simple latch with a padlock hole I’ve put an unsanctioned padlock in)
    • a deadbolt on the front door
    • replacement door frames to fix all the damage old mate inflicted with his little knife episode

Apparently all except the deadbolt have been approved (they’re still trying to come up with a solution that doesn’t violate the fire code thingies, although I guess technically the screen door is a deadbolt, since it can’t be opened by sliding a knife into the lock and prying, which is all I really wanted. A dude came out today to measure the door frames, apparently they’re going to replace all the doors as well. Interestingly they’ve actually used a local tradie instead of the idiots from mcpeake.

Mcpeake are the previously unnamed idiots that do stupid work that I mention almost weekly. As I understand it, they have the contracts for fixing, upgrading, and maintaining all public housing and out of home care properties in Melbourne. They seem to take it for granted, or the department is locked into a long contract. they don’t provide timeframes, they usually rock up unannounced (a problem because I’m not allowed to let them in, or approve/sign off on any work, that’s all the property managers job), at least outside of emergency works. They also do shoddy work, are staffed exclusively by arseholes (their google reviews are hilarious btw), and usually don’t even finish the job right.

But it seems that people above the property manager have been stressing the importance of getting things done in a timely fashion, and they ended up finding local tradies to do most of the work.

Me too. Last night and the night before were difficult sleeps. I slipped into some sort of weird state where I was asleep but it was more like I was just resting with my eyes closed, very shallow “sleep”. Melatonin did not help, and neither did trying to get some exercise and sunlight in yesterday

In an effort to lift my mood I’m looking at visiting my aunty in WA over the AFL PH given that she has her birthday that week too. Flights are never cheap, but they’re less gross than usual atm… I haven’t seen her in quite a while and I’ve got just enough leave to make it work. Could do with a bit of mutual TLC.

Almost nearing the end of this retaining wall. my new best friend is a cheapo ozito corded drill. Had to get some screws through pretty thick metal fence posts which the way more expensive cordless one couldn’t and it worked. So satisfying seeing the sleepers snap in flush when the screw goes through the post.

Can’t believe I haven’t fucked it up yet or injured myself (not including back) which is amazing.

Test is negative! 🪩💃🏼 And I can taste more things! I didn’t realise until I bought some mixed donuts for the Minipeelers and Elder asked what the yellow ones were and I took a bite and said, “pineapple” lol. Spent most of the day cleaning in the lounge room, which hasn’t had a decent clean in a while. Four long haired people in a place really take it’s toll in terms of fluffage in the carpet and upholstery. Now I’m going to make some schnitzels and maybe a quick curry. I’m back baby 👉🏼😎👉🏼

Ooh, today is new bank card day. They sent it with priority, so that’s nice.

What’s not nice is this new design. Previously I had a nice white one, with tasteful colour splashed around, and the numbers and my name hard pressed into it, but they’ve changed to an obnoxious yellow front, with nothing on it except a chip and a logo, then the back has all of my info on it. And it’s not pressed into the card anymore, it’s just written on, like a Myki card :(

        Yeah, it’s a travesty :/

My UBank card is similar, but they still made it look nice. This CommBank one looks like someone told a 4 year old to redesign it for a cuppa chup. Also it’s vertical. Why would I want a vertical card. It’s not fucking tickrock

But they stopped using that ages ago, I thought it was all about the lovely tactile feeling and being able to differentiate your credit card from all the other cards…

There’s different cut outs on the narrow end for different types of cards. Half moons, triangles etc. Can’t think what as I don’t actually have a credit card as such. My eftpos card has a half moon.

Yeah the new CommBank cards are not it. They look tacky imo

Edit: just read on about the chip thing maybe being behind lack of embossing. Makes sense

Temu order update: Package arrived. Shoes were ungrated. However the grater was not great. It was very flimsy, bent out of shape and has been refunded.
