Mask & Dino Riders were created with the same thought process as transformers: make a show to sell toys…

That shit worked, lol! I had the motorcycle helicopter & a pterodactyl with missile launchers. I wanted that T-Rex so bad, but that was like $100 in 80’s money and was not happening.

Brave Star was my favorite, though.

Gargoyles, Batman The Animated Series, X-Men, Exosquad, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain. Liked them equally.

    Alfred Jodocus Kwak

It’s a Dutch show that was beautifully drawn and animated in Japan. It still looks fantastic and it takes you seriously as the material is quite mature. It’s about ww2, sort of like deep space 9. There’s a lot of world exploration and adventure and it adresses societal issues. The only bummer is that the gender norms are quite old fashioned so it might not be appropriate for your kids based on your views.

Haven’t thought about Harlock for decades, thanks for the reminder! I never saw Dinosaucers but the rest were ace.

So many… The earliest cartoon I remember loving was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was incredibly cozy. Then I discovered Cartoon Cartoons, especially Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter’s Laboratory with their throwback art styles, and got obsessed with those for a while.

Eventually SpongeBob came out and became my personality, because he was basically an annoying kid trying his best to be friends with everyone like I was. (It’s played out now, it wasn’t back then.)

ETA how did I not mention classic Looney Tunes. Before we had cable I was really into the classics.

Mighty Orbots, just for the theme song alone. Now that I think about it I will have that song stuck in my head all day.

Pluto TV is missing out in not making a deal with whoever the owner of CN is, those classics deserve their spot there…

In the meantime I am happily using DizqueTV to make my own channels 😂

I used to watch a lot of Boomerang in Latin America, they aired either OG Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry for 1 hour daily

I had a love/hate relationship with that show because I felt so sorry for Tom. Kept watching it though so clearly it did something right.

    Reboot

It may not be the answer I gave at the time, but it’s the best balance now of “liked it as a kid” and “like it as an adult”

A documentary was released on the show last month. During production they were given the original master tapes for the show and have been slowly releasing all of the episodes in glorious 4k for free on YouTube. Check them out - they hold up to nostalgia better than you’d expect.

Came here to say David the Gnome, just rewatched it recently and loved it. Never met someone else in real life who has ever seen it.

    The Tick.

I really enjoyed the comic book hero shows, and The Tick and Freakazoid were great fun to watch as parodies of the genre.

I was so happy to see The Tick get a couple of seasons as an Amazon show.
