Love a vague warning light coming on in the car. I’ll feed it some coolant when it cools down a bit, hopefully that makes it happy.

I just received what was supposed to be a dustpan and brush set from Temu. They’ve sent me a vibration platform exercise machine instead. The Australian warehouses don’t seem to be that great at sending the right thing.

The machine is pink and has a cat decoration on it. I’d suspect Miss Meow was involved somehow if I couldn’t see the order history…

Nearing the end of looking after hambam.

Seen a big shift in behaviour over the last 3 and a bit weeks. All it took was wearing him out and giving him more off lead freedom.

I’ll miss his burps and random little sleep / dream woofing throughout the night.

Copying a comment I made in the r/ sub the other day and remembered this joint. So… Here goes

Sup DT? Can I ask a very controversial question on a perhaps controversial subject (depending on who you are and perhaps political leanings).

Pride Month… This question is perhaps aimed at those within the LBGT+ community, do you like Pride Month, or do you think that it’s becoming a bit forced and you just wish society would move on and just treat you as a regular ol’ joe/jane?

Because as a straight man, whilst i’m not annoyed or angry or REEEEE about corporations/game developers or whatever with their Pride Month celebrations, I feel like it’s pretty rude to highlight a month for a group of people who just want to be treated like anyone else, and not be put on a platform every june?

I apologise if this comes off as rude, or as a “a straight man talking about pride month stuff”. I support LBGT stuff as much as the next person does.

Okay so for context on my opinion I’ll state I am bisexual and non-binary.

I don’t participate in pride month, but I also don’t theoretically mind if game Devs/corps make it a big thing either. My sexuality has been erased or sexualised, bi ladies are “sluts and cheaters”, bi men are “closet gays and cheaters” as an example of the rhetoric that is common. There are lesbians and gays who just think we haven’t “decided”, which is wild, wild stuff. Then considering how much abuse the community suffered/suffers because of powerful bigoted dickheads or just the government’s of the past (and in some countries it’s current governments), I like that the entire LGBTQ+ spectrum is kept in people’s minds, that we can’t assume we know a person’s character because of who they love or how they see themselves. We’re free (at least in Aus) to love who we love and be who we are and that should be celebrated. I’ve been personally told that I’m not actually bi because I’m with a man (I’m AFAB), but I don’t think it’s necessary to tell them my partner’s self-ID just to clear that up or prove that I’m “worthy” of the queer alphabet soup.

On the other hand, capitalism. Companies make more money the broader their audience is, so being openly pro-LGBTQ+ and having rainbow merch or game skins means they increase their sales and profit. Then you have people who make it their whole damn identity without, like, developing their character or experiences.

I appreciate the added visibility, I dislike that it’s capitalist companies doing it for profit or clout.

Interesting. I think LowExperience has made a couple of very good points here. There’s still more to do, and while there is, then having a dedicated time period to highlight the issue has some value. I find rainbow washing or black washing or green washing etc. fairly disgusting, mostly because of the exploitation factor. But then, the advertising industry and generally commerce is built around finding a demographic and targeting it. You can’t blame pond scum for being green and slimy, its just how it is, and if it wasn’t like that it wouldn’t be pond scum.

I’m generally opened minded and progressive, I also work with someone who is in a same sex marriage closely.

I don’t mind it. My exposure of it generally comes from sporting events where many other topics are celebrated and I think it’s needed to highlight the importance of people being recognised out there and also the problems that still exist within society.

It was only a couple of months ago that The Trumpets of Patriots were running a hate campaign and it was utterly disgusting and tried to mirror Trump’s 2 gender campaign.

Until these things stop and discrimination totally stops it’s still needed for education and tolerance.

That’s just my take on things.

I answered this in the other place already, so I won’t repeat myself

How have the answers thoughtfully provided to you so far influenced your opinion?

Welcome back to this fun little corner of the internet!

I personally see pride as a celebration of one’s sexuality / gender identity, particularly in a society where heteronormativity is prominent, and we still have people who won’t accept others due to them being LGBTQIA+. I like how it empowers people to celebrate an important aspect of their identity. I don’t like how companies participate in rainbow washing.

As with other events that are around advocacy, like NAIDOC Week, I do think we’ve got to do more than just have a week or a month for these sorts of things. But I’m glad pride exists. In some countries, it’s frowned upon or even illegal to be queer.

Welp I just did the stupidest thing.

Was trying to find something and thought I had packed it into a box or cupboard so I’ve torn the place apart trying to find it.

2 hours later I give and look on my recliner and find I put it there last week and forgot about it.

    🤦‍♂️

I’ve finished a lot of the painting and am now setting up and organising the room . Pooped.

But once it’s done I’ll be free to do all the other things. 😊

One thing I have been doing is watching furniture repair and restoration instructional videos. It’s been good. It’s given me the nudge to be patient and get skills and the will to do jobs thoroughly. Problem now is I’m eyeing all the furniture I have that have little problems, like a wobbly leg or some scratches, and feel I should really fix them all up.

Well neither melatonin or Restavit work very well. I’ve just bought some actual caffeinated coffee to have in the mornings in the hopes that will help.

Unfortunately there’s the risk of aggravating anxiety and my stomach. I wish I’d been able to get one of those tiny 50g jars

Have you tried CBD oil?..assuming you’re talking about sleep? Helps me enormously. Non THC version means I can have it nightly. You’d need a script, but that’s fairly simple.

you have to order from the US, but sleep aid (which is basically American Benadryl) is an antihistamine like Restavit but a bit more powerful.

Just sent a client proposal which took a long time to complete and I know I’m being pitted against one other business for this work. Fingers crossed it comes through to me, but we’ll see. The other business is far more established / has a team of staff so it feels like I can’t compete, but I gave it a real crack. I’ve had a few proposals fall through recently which has knocked my confidence a bit (but at least they were quick to prepare), I really hope this one doesn’t end up a huge waste of time.

I’m ahead of schedule on work but so behind on my thesis, lalalala… At least I’m winning at something in life. Had a wee chat about options after and there’s some leeway for working remotely but it depends on what comes in. Boss is very sympathetic to my wanting a break from Melbourne to help reset things. It’s just that the next few months are very uncertain in terms of workload so, we’ll have to see.

Might be an ad-hoc/super part time thing while I’m away which is good enough at this point.
