Presenting the beginnings of the metric polypipe DOME OF DOOM for the chilli patch.

Garden ties and an old bike tube as lashing. I doubt it’ll be sturdy enough but we’ll see

Think I might wait and think about the netting for the next week and just see if the frame holds up.

This is giving off pyramid vibes. Maybe put razor blades under it to sharpen them up (and discourage the chilli thief).

Omg we have a VHS player! I actually have a bag of VHS tapes I got from an op shop last year. I’ve never played a VHS before and I’m kinda excited ngl

I don’t even know what I bought honestly. There’s a handwritten one about wildflowers, and some Disney movie, but I don’t know about the rest. I just saw 10c each and was like “ooh! Old people media! I will buy!” Love ya, Vinnie’s

Ha. I have a VCR. I don’t think it has been plugged into power at any point in the kids’ lives. It’s just been there at the bottom of the entertainment cabinet, dark and mysterious and ignored.

The only tapes I still have are Star Wars remastered (Han still shoots first) and 1997 editions. Widescreen versions.

I should put them on one day. In this day and age of streaming and Bly Rays, VHS will be an experience.

If they taped shows or movies off the telly there will be old ads

( first show I saw on tape was Blake 7 , I borrowed a player from the library at school, it was 1978. )

You might also need to use a tape head cleaner first .

Clean the heads, but please don’t use a head clean tape ( in the bizzare offchance you find one) those things were sandpaper, you want a light solvent.

I thought taping over movies was the sort of things parents yelled at you for

So far the most annoying thing people have done is not rewinding their tapes

I don’t know what a tape head cleaner is, or for that matter what a tape head is, but I’m just going to put the tape in the box and hope for the best

Copying movies from the telly. You could buy blank tapes and record from a camcorder or copy from a telly, either by cable or just pointing the camera at the screen.

Cool. I only really know greetings and food in arabic because that’s how I communicate with my in-laws. My husband says I have a bogan pronunciation which he loves. I did understand shookrun when you replied yesterday because that was my very first arabic word.

Maltese friends say they can understand most arabic spoken.

The crazy yelling guy in my neighbourhood is getting quite deranged. He was sitting at a tram stop screaming incoherently at a bunch of people sitting outside at the pub for a good ten minutes or more, a cop car even drove past entirely unaware. He always sounds really hoarse and threatening, always loud, but I can barely make out what he’s saying

I don’t want to ask your catchment area, and these might just get you handballed around… but hopefully one of these services might prove useful or get you referred to one that is?

You could also call psych triage and see if there’s anything they can advise

Edit: Sorry it’s some random BPD resource but it’s got all the CATT numbers for each area in one place https://www.bpdcommunity.com.au/hidden-content/is-this-a-crisis

Just drove back home to the city from Ballarat. The smoke is absolutely disgusting there. Got into my apartment and promptly spewed my guts out. Not sure if it’s the smoke or something I had.

Questions for those who use water chestnuts. Is it ok to sample them from a can before they get to the wok? Basically will I die? I may have eaten 1/4 can.

All food in cans is cooked and sterilized so should be fine to eat straight from the can. There are few riskier foods in general than fish which we eat straight from the can all the time without a second thought, so water chestnuts should not worry you at all.

Everything in a can is cooked. The process involves being heated in a pressure cooker and held at above boiling temperatures for a length of time. So it definitely passes the cooked test. But even if it didn’t water chestnuts are also fine to eat raw. So if there are still any left feel free to finish off the can.

full offense to A Certain Workplace but me kinda drunk operating with a hand full of fruit tingles is a better fucking laptop repairer than their entire dedicated staff.

(going over my loot so far not even a bung part. JFC. Corporations that do this need to be shot.)

I know. It’s lucky I didn’t reef it across the room.

I’ll take a rain check on those gummy worms. I’ve been very good on the sugar lately.

Edit: whoops I replied to the wrong comment. I knew this would happen some day.

Shoulder injury headache is kicking my ass. Bed for the rest of the day. It’s been a long time since I’ve had one, I’ve forgotten how shitty they feel.

Imagining this is akin to bad neck headache. Eye wants to pop out? Sympathy!

There is absolutely no wind out there and you can definitely feel the absence of it.
