Reference has been given. Sounds like it went well! Thanks again to the poster here who was able to help me with that. Very much in their debt.

Now I’ll get a call from the recruiter later today or tomorrow which will give me the final word that we are all a go for next week.

    Fingers crossed!

Have come home hungry so I made peanut butter toast.

Came back annoyed from work because I think someone went through my drawers for a stapler which I’ll double check tomorrow morning when I get in.

I will be confronting this person and telling them that going through my office drawers was inappropriate and violated my personal space.

I don’t understand why people don’t know boundaries.

    Scary movie review part II

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

I forgotted the most important part of my review.

This movie tells teens they have the ability and innate psychological strength to face adversity and that they don’t need protecting from stories about tragedy and trauma and that facing trauma is a part of healing.

Rang Tenants Vic for last night’s issue.

Amongst many things, these two stood out:

    • Under RTA S72 Was told that rental provider must repair within 48 hours
    • Under RTA S67 quiet enjoyment of premises, and that I should be able to use all facilities and rooms to full extent.

But I couldn’t find anything written to support the “48 hours” figure and the “full extent” statement that I could refer to in the next email, any idea?

Agent pushed back saying it’s normal for the switch to trip if we overload the circuit lol. No shit. But if the apartment’s power is cut off from an outside switchboard that only owners corp can access… gotta wait 3 days for someone to come and fix it.

    And for clarity:

    • Switchboard inside apartment: Oven, hot water, and I think the stove are on their own circuits. No idea where the bathroom heater is wired up to.
    • From outside of the apartment: aircon on one “line”, oven/hot water/stove/bathroom heater on another, other outlets on another.
    • Using oven/hot water/stove/heater together apparently cuts the power to the whole apartment from outside, but from what I can gather, we would be fine using a smaller combination of the above, our own portable heaters and aircon together lol.

I wish there is a product where it combines the responsiveness, seamlessness and app integrations of Siri with the data sources of Google Assistant, that is available on iPhone 13.

Most of the time I just use it to message my wife and set timers while driving.

        • On GA, doing things is hit or miss, sometimes it confirms the action without actually doing anything. Sometimes it’s able to tell me the dates of the Antipodes Festival and what time Kenangan is closing. Sometimes it just goes “sorry I don’t understand” for every single command that’s not related to navigation.

        • On Siri, if it understands my words then it reliably gets work done and quickly. But it refuses to answer any factual questions while driving.

Yeah I miss google assistant, but I preffer the apple platform. Googles worming its way into everything piece of tech is a bit unsettling. I have way less “damn guess I need to reset the phone” on iOS when compared to Android as well. Woulda kinda love windows phone to come back though.

So I guess we’re all good now. Recruiter messaged back saying it was a great reference.

HR rang to let me know my start date and time, and what to expect on my first day.

    It’s done.

Thank you everyone for all your help and support ❤️❤️❤️

Now I’m going to give the cat a shit load of treats, and enjoy some video games without feeling guilty because I should be applying for jobs.

I’m looking forward to being back at work and the rewards therein.

Ahh… I’ve been feeding Melbcat lots of treats to keep her appetite up and her tummy lined, and they contain sugar in the form of molasses. At the vet I saw some redness on her gums and tartar on her teeth. I wonder how far I’d get with brushing them.

Unfortunately there aren’t very many other treats she can have.

I’m not sure you can realistically start brushing teeth as an adult. Like bathing, start them tiny or wear chainmaile

If she likes them and it keeps her happy then there’s nothing wrong with it, and don’t worry about teeth. At some stage in a pets life the long term impact vs quality of life balance is in favour of just keeping them happy. No point saving her teeth if that means she is miserable for the rest of her days? Our dog made it to 15 eating all sorts of things that were theoretically bad for him, with only 3 vet dental cleans over the years. He had a very happy life, no teeth brushing and no regrets.

    • Grateful for my aunt saying, “When one door closes, another one opens. You’re not locked in a room forever.”

    • spent probably seven hours playing Stardew Valley yesterday and enjoyed myself. But not spending that long again.

Omfg the amount of bloatware on this laptop is insane! Windows really is just bloat at this point. It reminds me of when I was younger and used to have a cheap shitty Optus/Telstra phone they probably sold as a loss leader. They used to come with sooo much bloatware. Even the cheap Samsung’s used to.

But seriously. No I don’t fucking want Norton, LinkedIn, candy crush, Microsoft maps, or Facebook. God. And everything is so pushy, why can’t it be quiet bloatware.

    Open edge

    Search for chrome

“There’s no need to switch to another browser! Edge performs better.”

    Close popup

Go to the download chrome page

“Microsoft edge performs up to 3x faster than >google chrome!”

    Close popup

    Download chrome

    Open chrome

“Installer error! Failed with error code 57”

Norton popup: “we found a threat on your device! But don’t worry. We blocked it.”

I NEVER WANTED NORTON OR EDGE I JUST WANT CHROOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEEE. FUCK. OFF

this was also after about 15 minutes of trying to figure out how to fuck all the Microsoft garbage off and just use a local account.

    And now:

MSI Centre popup: “Have you backed up your system?”

NO I HAVEN’T BACKED UP MY FUCKING SYSTEM THERE’S NOTHING TO BACKUP YET YOU DONKEY! I HAVENT EVEN INSTALLED CHROME YET!!!

Imo, reinstall the LTSC version of windows and dual boot Mint.

Shame they didn’t get you a mac.

      And Firefox not Chrome.

On the way home from tennis. I gave myself two options: 1. Take PT home and order delivery or 2. Take a cab home and make food instead. I did neither, took PT home and will make food instead of ordering in. Go me!

    Anti-gratitude thread >:(

    • Friend from uni cancelled on me and the reason was because something minor came up apparently. Didn’t say what. Last time we were meant to catch up, they hadn’t even left the house and were half an hour away at the time we were supposed to meet, so I told them we can reschedule. I have cancelled on them last minute before as well, but this is not the only time they’ve done it. Time to find alternative social arrangements for this week, because I will go insane without seeing people.

    • I think the weight I’ve gained, in an attempt to gain muscle, is just belly fat

I understand about the weight thing. For me, it generally works out to about 50/50 muscle and fat. Just wish getting musclier didn’t have to involve getting a belly.

I’ve gained about 10kg, after all the work and exercise I did, and have a fat belly now and I’m depressed about it. Why are cakes so nice? Why is tiramisu so damn tasty? I seem to have to exercise like a maniac in order to indulge in a miserly stingy little bit of cheesecake, which makes me even more depressed, it’s barely fucking worth it! So I’m watching my food intake, avoiding high fat and high sugar foods and I’m fucking miserable.

Instead of avoiding foods that make you happy, why don’t you try adding foods into your diet instead? I think it’s called nutrition by addition.

I hate dropping my kids off at childcare. They cry when I leave and I feel like I’m turning my back on them. I want to have them at home but I can’t give them the attention they need and work at the same time.

I hate this performance meeting I have coming up. The way it makes me feel and it’s such a big deal over something so small. No one has been hurt and the business hasn’t even lost money. There are things I could do better but everything feels so insignificant in comparison.

It really bugs me how I never see my MIL in the morning when we’re getting the kids ready. We live in the same house and she knows the schedule, why do I never see her when we’re trying to wrangle two kids out the door before work?
