I think I have figured out Ted Cat’s previous life. He was a stud cat, kept in a largish cage, never patted, never brushed, his only human contact to do with feeding, cleaning his cage. The only other cats were lady cats. And yet his nature is sweet and playful and friendly. He loves company. H won’t stop eating crunchies so I have to restrict them. I think he’ll turn out fine. 😊🤗😸

Daily exercises completed. I thought I’d better do it now before I succumb to bloated wallowing after cooking Mr Ps birthday lunch. It turned out to be one of the nicest roasts I’ve ever done, followed by an awesome chocolate cake which the Minipeelers helped with. All I can offer you is a picture of what’s left of the cake

Now I can indulge in bloated wallowing!

At the time my bench was still cluttered and I didn’t want to use it as a backdrop. I wish it was the biggest piece of cake in the entire world; I want another piece but also want to leave some for everyone else!

I received the cat toys I ordered on Temu yesterday, and they seem to be a hit. I got one of those rings with trapped balls that roll around, and it is very light so moves around when she hits at the balls. I think that adds to the fun, and she seems quite convinced that there is a secret entrance to get at the balls from the inside as she keeps reaching in there to try and get them. The other toy is a small ball that vibrates periodically - I think its supposed to roll around by itself, but it just wobbles in place. That seems to be interesting enough for Miss Meow, and I think she believes it is an escaped ball from the ring toy as she has been playing with them together. I’m not sure how long it has before it is permanently lost under some furniture somewhere.

It does make me a bit sad I didn’t realise her initial lack of interest in toys was because of the problems with her teeth. At least I can make it up to her a bit now. I might look into some other toys seeing as how well received these were.

From general pain and infection, which in Miss Meow’s case was from badly infected teeth. When I got her she had problems with her mouth & skin infections, and I thought that after a couple of rounds of antibiotics and having four teeth removed that had been resolved, but it turns out the infection in the teeth was still there, and progressed over the course of a year to the point where she had to have all her teeth removed (it turns out she is FIV positive, which is why she was so succeptible to the infection). Not having a baseline for “normal” behaviour for her I thought her lack of interest in toys was just her personality, but she is much more active and playful now.

Haven’t been in Fitzroy in a while… Yong’s Green Food has closed down! :( that’s sad, many good memories of going there with friends from another era. It does feel really weird getting around on PT again after 4 years of driving, I feel like I’m going backwards inside but the surrounds are clearly different.

You could try and see it as an opportunity for you to fondly remember what’s gone, but then embrace and experience what’s new and changed. Going backwards inside can give you a new lease of life if you can let yourself enjoy it! So maybe reframe your brain and have fun like you did in those memories?

I haven’t really felt fun but more a sense of taking stock and acknowledging where I am now in life and what that opens up. I definitely don’t want to dwell in the past but these changes remind me that I’m ready to move on (for what it’s worth those friends I dined with are no longer friends…)

That’s very introspective, which is a difficult skill to learn and most people I’ve met are rubbish at it.

So are you asking yourself, or do you already know, what you your next move is? What your goals are?

Been madly cleaning and tidying today for the second inspection as it’s the wife coming through and as a rule they pick up what the guys miss (and vice versa). But I actually managed it, so now I’m flopped after a shower and all I have to do is add the finishing touches and put away a few last things. Phew!

All my stuff is out of my old place and into my new 🎉 just a couple of things to drop at Vinnies and the end of lease clean to go.

I am a bit ashamed of how dusty the carpet is behind where some of the furniture was, and I can see all the marks and cobwebs on the walls. How much pre-cleaning do you do before getting in the cleaners? I am paying a reasonable price but I feel bad I haven’t done more. Should I go and vacuum / wipe everything down tomorrow?

I finally said “fuck it” and got my Blink 182 VIP lounge access tickets. My credit card is currently crying.

Home and in bed after an artsy afternoon and evening out. I thought I would feel like watching something but I actually really feel like books, which is great news for the pile of hideously overdue titles around the house. It was great getting out of the house and doing something a little different and mind-tickling.

But it made me reflect on my way home how desperately I want to be done with my job and my workplace; I shouldn’t have stayed on on a casual basis. I need to finish this project asap and gtfo. I really am ready even to just sell everything up and go wwoofing for a year to catch up on all the things I never got to to when I was younger.

Hello. I have not been able to sign into lemmy on my new phone, not that I am so self-absorbed to think my absence was noted lol.

    But I am alive :)
