I feel like people say “Nazi” when they really mean “fascist”, but they’re afraid to say “fascist” because then they will be clearly referring to Republicans, and are afraid of retaliation. It’s not good. We need to normalize calling out fascists as fascists.

out of curiosity i was reading that stuff up, and fascist is also not clearly defined. it refers to a right wing movement in Italy, so in the same manner as “nazi” it simply compares to another group of morons.

You got me curious what the simplified Wikipedia entry for facism is:

“Under fascism, the government heavily controls a country’s economy and other parts of society, usually by using a form of authoritarian corporatism. Under this system, companies and workers are supposed to work together under national unity. A fascist regime uses violence to kill or persecute anyone it does not consider useful.”

interesting that it differs so much from the standard English article (from which i have my knowledge). on the other hand, that is what a simple answer would be, without going into the details or background. never checked it out before

A thing that I often feel with pizzacake comics is that the message needs to be there regardless of wether or not we think the comics are funny.

We are in fact talking about nazis. Doesn’t matter if they’re from WWII germany or current day USA. Or wherever and from whenever.

There are still people who live as if it’s 6 years ago. Hell, I’m sure some still live in their heads in pre-2016 times. As if all of this fucked up shit isn’t happening under our very noses right now.

And for those, yes it bears repeating over and over again =>Nazis are not to be negotiated with<=.

It needs to be stated because the broad public opinion does swing back and forth on the whims of media.

So yes, punch Nazi’s. Make old timey Superman proud.

It’s propaganda you agree with. That’s not a dig, mind you, it’s propaganda I agree with as well. A lot of intelligent people fail their wisdom checks when they hear something like that because they feel that all propaganda is wrong.

However, it’s just a tool. A necessary one at that. Because if we’re not filling the media sphere with anti-nazi, anti-right-winged propaganda, then Nazi’s fill the space with theirs. It also improves morale, and steels the resolve of those that are also anti-nazi and anti-fascist. And encourages others to stand up and fight with both pen and weapon.

Really, no different than Donald Duck fighting in WW2.

Usually comedy only tangentially touches on what’s important, or it risks turning into lectures.

Lectures can be fine. People pay for them sometimes. When comedy becomes lectures, and keeps its old “comedy” sign out front, people, at minimum, comment on the change with disappointment.

Maybe the important thing is more important than the comedy. It’s still a loss of comedy and an unwillingness to acknowledge the fact.

And generally, the fewer nazis and fascists you have, the more comedy exists.

        Quite a knot.

Yep, so glad she’s revered here. Her endless wit and positioning herself on the opposite end of an obvious debate really warms me towards the idea that she’s not just victim propping herself for clicks. Love her.

Edit: I should add, fuck all Nazis. But also down with pizzacake and her weak ass sauce.

As far as I can tell most people’s definition of a joke seems to be ‘‘something I laughed at’’ and not ‘‘a set up and punchline’’ and it’s weird. this comic is a set up and a punch line. it’s like… a most basic joke concept.

I mean, it explicitly doesn’t have a definite punchline. But the lack of punchline is almost functioning as a punchline.

I’ve got to say that Pizzagate’s comics aren’t really peak comedy for me, but i appreciate the usage of the medium for criticism - the format spreads a lot easier and further than an essay on substack.

    Edit: Pizzacake ofc lol

I would like Elon Musky to get blasted into space with one his rockets instead of coming back to Earth. Musky floats off into space. We can all take pride in the fact, that Musky will be so high on his own farts that he would think he could fix the problem. Then, just maybe, there will be a moment of crushing self-realization when Musky realizes that he can’t fix the issue cause he doesn’t have the skill, just like the rest of his life.

Just to clarify, you like that someone has posted something you don’t like, just because other people don’t like it even more?

Funnily enough, this one is actually pretty funny. Not so much the comic, but because someone clearly got under her skin enough to get her to make this.

        Not liking ≠ disliking/hating

I don’t care for her comics, the content is simply not for me so I don’t engage with it. Whether they’re posted here or not makes no difference to me.

But the posts themselves? There’s always people complaining and, more often than not, irrationally so. They can choose to ignore them, scroll past and leave it at that. Instead, they go and write a comment of how bad this comic is and how unfunny of a content creator she is and bemoan about blocking all her content. It’s like they’re purposely putting on a circus show, and I’m all for it.

Par for the course with Pizzacake, I don’t think she has ever had an original thought which wasn’t prefaced with “look how persecuted I am!”

The core format of every comic she does is “stereotype insulted by obvious strawman but stereotype gets last word and comic ends”.

She’s a white woman with a sub husband in Canada, btw.

Look, if a literal Nazi shows up at the town hall advocating to tax the Rich, because he makes a literal career as an influencer doing it while pushing Nazi ideology, then you should assume that when he gets his ass kicked in the parking lot that it’s because he’s a fucking Nazi and you should not defend the Nazi.

This is analogous to defending Pizzacake just because she intentionally chooses popular stances while shitting out repetitive unartistic works, vote botting them, and banning all dissent.

Are you okay? Honestly I do not understand, what you are saying there. Nazi pushing nazi propaganda, and then getting their ass kicked for it, is completely different, from someone making bland comics about popular issues, even if they are using unethical means of pushing those. Like, in what way are these things connected as a metaphora? And how does that relate, to the subject of my earlier comment pointing out, that it is okay to support things, people are not experiencing themselves?
