He’s already demonstrated first hand he doesn’t know how to navigate the UI for someone who has invested time to be a top player. It’s obvious to anyone that’s spent more than a couple days in any game.

Rich people work so hard to deserve their perverse wealth /s The only way they can still blow of steam is by pretending to grind online multiplayer games no actual working person has enough time for.

What kind of flex is this supposed to be?

I dont know path of exile in detail but being a top mmo player has always struck me of an archivement in dedication of time much more then inherent skill. The learned skill the pros have just comes natural with enough dedication.

My general reaction to something like it is not more then . Wow “you” must really enjoy this particular game. Is that reaction really worth cheating for?

Do we think he lacks the general life experience to be able to reflect on the common knowledge that a pro failed more times then the beginner has tried?

I known Elon is neurodivergent if not full on autistic but so am i and i cant make sense of this guys wims.

I think it comes down to what you said, but for the obscenely rich.

A pro has failed more than a beginner has tried. The obscenely rich have been told ‘yes’ more than the poor have had the opportunity to even ask questions.

You can learn this type of failed behavior just like a bad habit, and boy howdy is he the master of it.

The company behind POE can do it easily with IP address.

E.G. one of the bits is that the character was online and playing while he was on a high profile call with some German Nazis (sorry “AFD”)

The main ones are that for the rank of the character, he would absolutely have to know the game damn near perfectly.

In the video he put out, its very obvious he doesn’t know a damn thing about it.
      • As in just blindly autoattacking, even when he doesnt have mana to attack • Not knowing how the map nodes work, going into a run with a full inventory • Skipping over all drops including a “Chaos Orb”. Only picks up maps. • Claiming how bad his gear based on the equip level alone when its functionally tue best possible gear you can get • The character’s auction house gear sales are classic RMT scammer money trades, where they put horrible gear up for ridiculous prices as a way to move ingame currency around between mules.

I thought poe2 didn’t have a real AH, just currency market. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to say.

Rest of the stuff checks out though.

It doesn’t have an auction house that automatically sells gear but, it does a an official website that allows you to list gear for sale. One of “Musk’s” listings (Maybe the only? I don’t remember) is a garbage crossbow for 18 divine orbs. That’s an ass load of currency in SC trade, let alone HC.

You apparently have a hateful right wing chud perform “secret” acts that will result in them getting a big push on a new platform.

Also: Friendly reminder that the Vice of today is not the Vice of olde and that “Waypoint” is a brand that is run by one rando (who likely uses a LOT of AI to generate content…) and has none of the social or political values the old Waypoint had. For the old Waypoint, you are looking at Remap Radio (the three founder/owners are Ricardo Contrarez, Rob Zacny, and Patrick Klepek and they semi-regularly collaborate with Austin Walker and, when she is available, BAFTA Award Winner Natalie Watson. And Janet Garcia is a “newbie” but is fucking awesome).

Aww, the chuds must be angry that I am not giving their shit goblin his due credit for asking musk for a streaming deal.

Yeah, Lemmy is crazily echo-chambered. If you don’t actively shit on Elon for absolutely everything he does (be it good or bad) you get downvoted and called a bigot.

Why can’t people be normal and shit on Elon for bad stuff and praise him for good stuff. There is not a single person in the world that is 100% good or 100% bad - everyone is on the spectrum and even the worst people have certain good aspects (and the best people have shit aspects).

EDIT: I sometimes feel like I could write a full-on essay about how Elon sucks and it would still get downvoted into oblivion just cuz I said like one positive thing about him in it.

I would agree that some of his businesses are doing well, but I would give more credit to the scientists and engineers making it happen. We found out shortly after the election that he had almost no involvement in SpaceX lately in fact.

He does get some credit for actually gathering those people and starting the companies sure, however all the insane things he’s done and is doing have really heavily undercut all of it for most people, myself included. I was a fan of his until he completely without evidence accused some diver of being a pedophile just because they didn’t want to use his awful “submersible” to rescue those Thai children years back.

narcissism is a lack of empathy and conpassion. it is not thinking you are better than others.

Yes and that need stems from deep insecurity. Narcissists are insecure, but don’t show it. Their whole superiority act is just that, an act. Very convincing, because it’s what they -want- to be, and when people praise them it’s like a confirmation. They’re addicted to it. That’s why they lash out at anyone who sees through it. When you praise them, they’ll treat you like the best friend/lover they’ve ever had, but once you take away the praise… well they become a nightmare.

See it like this: nobody who is actually self-confident needs to get a constant stream of praise to be happy.

Because it’s not true. Narcissistic personality disorder may included self loathing but it is not a requirement.

This pattern is shown by the presence of ≥ 5 of the following:

An exaggerated, unfounded sense of their own importance and talents (grandiosity) Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited achievements, influence, power, intelligence, beauty, or perfect love Belief that they are special and unique and should associate only with people of the highest caliber A need to be unconditionally admired A sense of entitlement Exploitation of others to achieve their own goals A lack of empathy Envy of others and a belief that others envy them Arrogance and haughtiness

                source

Musk only needs 5. One could easily argue he has all of them.

That’s funny. I’ve only ever known 2 of them personally and they have all of it. The whole damn package. Yeah, that wasn’t fun.

Data show that, unlike normative, healthy self-esteem, which is associated with positive outcomes (5–7), narcissistic self-esteem is fragile, because it is highly contingent on achievement-related successes and feedback from the social environment (13–15). Narcissistic self-esteem is thus conceptualized as precariously elevated. When an individual with NPD is faced with an ego threat (e.g., real or imagined criticism, failure, or reduced social regard), unrealistically high self-expectations crumple into perceived inferiority (16, 17). Individuals with NPD are, therefore, hypersensitive to ego threats, and when threatened, they respond with efforts to reduce concomitant distress and upregulate self-esteem (17–19). These regulation strategies include some of NPD’s most recognizable and maladaptive behaviors. Classic “grandiose” responses include being aggressive or devaluing toward others (20, 21), fixating on grandiose fantasies (22), or engaging in self-serving bias (23). Classic “vulnerable” responses include alienating and isolating themselves (24) by avoiding situations that may threaten self-esteem (25), relentlessly criticizing themselves (26–28), or engaging in suicidal behaviors and fantasies (29, 30). This vacillation between overly inflated and deflated self-appraisals, alongside efforts to regulate this unstable sense of self through grandiosity, flawlessness, and/or avoidance, are described in both early psychoanalytic theories of narcissism (31), the contemporary Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders (8), and the personality disorder section of the ICD-11 (32–34). It is important to note that research is continually adding nuance to scientific perspectives on self-esteem in NPD (35). Various frameworks differently emphasize shifts between distinct states of grandiosity (i.e., elevated self-esteem, arrogance, and entitlement) and vulnerability (i.e., shame, insecurity, and neuroticism). Scholars are working to clarify whether and how grandiosity may function to conceal ever-present vulnerability and whether fragile self-esteem is a driving force or an outcome of this process (17, 18, 26, 36).

                  Source.

So. I guess it’s not actually clear yet which one of us is right (whether it’s ever-present or not).

All I can say is that in my (limited) experience they have extreme reactions to any sort of criticism, they take almost everything personal, and this just doesn’t happen with people who are actually really self-confident. I know plenty of confident people and they can handle criticism just fine without throwing huge fucking temper tantrums. It came to a point where I was walking on eggshells trying to never say anything that could be interpreted as criticism, because their fragile ego couldn’t handle it and they’d turn it around on me. Like… trying to make themselves feel better by putting me down. Anyway, I’ll stop dragging my personal issues in here, and just say: perhaps some day we’ll have a definitive answer.

                  Edit: typo.

Honestly he seemed all right before 2020’s but after that he’s slowly become more and more radicalized.

Rather than taking the time to try and research Elon, it’s probably faster to just read the Wikipedia entries on the German Nazi party and apartheid South Africa. That should give you a pretty good idea of what he believes and is pushing.

The craziest part of that article is

Vice co-founder Shane Smith stepped down as CEO in 2018, but has remained the company’s (…) The Canadian-born journalist’s focus seems to be trained on the southern border, with an editorial line closer to Trump campaign fearmongering than hard news reporting. (Smith is not to be confused with Vice co-founder Gavin McInnes, who left the media company and established the far-right militant group the Proud Boys).

So two of the three Vice media founders are now far right? I tried to find out more about Suroosh Alvi, the third founder, but didn’t see much. Though on his X (🤢) he posts and reports a bunch of pro Gaza stuff.

I shouldn’t be surprised cuz it looks like they all got rich off Vice, but still.

I feel like I remember them focusing on the sensation around news and not the actual news. Anything news worthy was included as a matter of context.

I felt like Vice was as if Beavis and Butthead were reporters, they went to the heart of a story that wasn’t getting much coverage and asked about people’s butts.

Not a surprise, dude gives off those vibes in videos as well.

Some of us remember when Vice was a mean-spirited, local magazine that made fun of the way New Yorkers dressed.

Not really surprising that those people turned out to be scumbags.

Actually it’s a dumb point because everyone and their mom already know he got boosted. Both of them should shut up and stop showing their face in public thank you very much.

    The Worst Person You Know

Asmon isn’t even close to to the top of the worst people I know. What even is that title?

The weird thing is like, this whole situation could have been avoided if he just played the game normally rather than pretending to be some god gamer at it.

It’s for the same reason he’s pretended to be a genius his entire career, he’s obsessed with his self image and being number one. He’s lied about being the best quake player in the world at some point. He’s like Billy Mitchell with more money.

Fragile masculinity combined with wanting to appear sufficiently tech savvy to tech bro investors. Tech bros want nerds because pretty much every dollar they’ve ever made was off the back of some innovation of someone they consider a nerd, so Elon wants to be the biggest nerd to tech bros so they will throw even more money at his dumb projects.

I think that putting in the hours to be very good at PoE2 is more embarrassing than being an amateur who only played a little bit. I say that as someone who looks forward to playing a lot.

Yeah I’ve put 97 hours into PoE2… I am far from good…I put nearly 2k in PoE1 and I did fight all the non-uber bosses at some point.
